It'll be funny to see all the opinions about Ball in this & other threads do massive backflips if he does end up at Melbourne.

Isnt it funny that in my phantom draft about a month ago I had Ball going to te Dees at 18. At that time I got ridiculed by a few Melbourne fans saying that would never happen and that I was an idiot. I said he would try to last to Collingwood but the Dees will jump in first in the hope to encourage him to join their growing squad.
Obviously if they were smart they wouldnt pick a guy who clearly doesnt want to play for them but it is a distinct possibility so to all those demon fans who had a go...feel free to eat ur words.

Seeing that Scully is a Richmond supporter I would think Richmond would be his preferred destination. I can't see Melbourne letting him slip to us. The players prefered destination doesn't mean much. Pavlich wanted to go to Adelaide before he was drafted but ten years on he is still playing for Freo.
All players have a "preferred" club to go to, but would be happy to play at other clubs. I think some people here are being a bit hard on Ball, after all he hasn't came out and said that he doesn't want to play for Melbourne. I think Ball's point of view is that he would prefer to go to Collingwood, but if Melbourne picks him up in the National draft he would be no worse off then going in the Pre-season draft. I think he would be just as happy to play for Essendon or Brisbane compared to Melbourne. If Melbourne picks him up I am sure he would play to the best he can.
If he actually came out and said that he doesn't want to play for Melbourne, then Melbourne shouldn't pick him.
If clubs didn't pick players because they were not their preferred club then nobody would be playing for Port Adelaide.
Bailey has the right attitude, we are going to get the most out of guys who want to be at the club.
Draftees all have their preferences and it'd be well known that Trengove would like to stay in SA but his first preference and goal would be to make himself an AFL career no matter where he is drafted.
You really need a new hobby instead of slagging off Bailey.

Also, Ball has not yet come out in the media and said he does NOT want to go to Melbourne, and until he does, I think Bailey and crew will continue to chase and have a good, long hard think about using pick 18.
Sure, he may prefer Collingwood, but until he says he DOESN'T want to go elsewhere (even though he knows of the risks upon entering the draft), he's fair game as far as I'm concerned.
Yes because not even meeting or speaking to Melbourne really indicates he wants to play for us.
It's what he hasn't said that is the problem.

Is Joel McDonald the sort of player we really require? 185cm defender???
I tend to agree, I think MacDonald (at his height) could find a niche role in our defence and help sure things up - not that our defence was too bad to begin with.Exactly the sort of player we need. McDonald's a running half back, which is something we lack. He's an upgrade on Bell and Cheney, and ideally Grimes and Morton should be played in the midfield.
Drummond, Rischitelli, Adcock, Redden and Polkinghorne are all similar types to McDonald, and Rischitelli aside, are rated higher.Im sure he could play a midfield role as well. He is a run and carry player - he actually reminds me of Simon Buckley but he can kick.
Does anyone know why he was delisted by Brisbane? I posted the question on their board but havnt really got an answer yet.

The way its panning out there is a small chance that we wont use PSD#1 and just use the spot to upgrade one of our rookies like McKenzie.

what?
redden's an inside midfielder, a stoppage player.
