Bancroft overlooked

Lets not beat around the bush.. those A games and PMXI games shouldn't have been FC games which is pretty much what he was picked on.

Pitches were roads and the opponents were going at 30%.
What's Bancroft's excuse for failing in those matches against NZA in August if it was so easy then? Enlighten me.

I think Renshaw was averaging like 20 with a Top Score of 36 in Shield in the lead up to that 12 month ban period, he got dropped from QLD there at one point.
Nope, he was the highest run scorer in the shield in 2017/18 shield season, thanks mostly to a huge 2nd half of the season where he made 3 100's and 2 50's in 6 matches after the BBL period. Prior to the Pakistan series in the UAE when Finch and Usman opened Renshaw made 6 100's and 4 50's in 12 matches for Qld and Somerset. Unfortunately copped a concussion in the warm up match and Finch did enough in the 1st test to hold his spot and Renshaw was sent home before the 2nd test.

It wasn't until February 2020 when he was dropped from the Queenland team and then shuffled down the order when he returned.

They're not forgotten, they just aren't good enough for Test cricket.

Especially one of them who can’t field as well least Bancroft won’t drop catches if called upon

Anyone got the fine print on this?

something like:

Well we don't know how toxic the environment actually was at the time in the rooms.

A lot of s**t was going in South Africa at the time and the side weren't used to vitriol/personal abuse coming there way from the crowd. They were clearly rattled and in a dark place with an us against the world mentality.

Maybe a stronger minded player would have said no i am not doing this surely there is another way to mess the ball up without taking f... sandpaper out there.

He could have mixed a mint with saliva and put it on the ball like Faf Du Plessis did in Hobart in 2016, which would still be illegal but nothing unprecedented or he could have said to David Warner "if you think using sandpaper on a cricket ball is such a good idea, you go aheas and do it".

Green going to 4 now is not ideal, because he doesn't deserve the spot. However he is clearly better than the three opening candidates and all of this was triggered by Smith wanting to open. If Smith wants to open, he opens - and so everything else has to fall into line with that.
Cam Green after 36 innings:
1 x 100, 6 x 50s, 33.59 average

Jacques Kallis after 36 innings:
2 x 100s, 5 x 50s, 30.87 average

I know it’s a ridiculous comparison this early but sometimes talented players don’t set the world on fire in their first 20odd tests. Excited to see Green being backed at no.4 while there are still senior players around him.

Hate to burst your bubble (actually that's not true). The umpires report said they saw no sign of tampering with the ball. So the umpires are in on this grand conspiracy as well?
No, when there were eventually signs if this scheme had continued genius.

It's easy to plead ignorance given it was identified straight a away

They won't come out and say it but Cam Bancroft has no chance of making the side while Cummins is captain which effectively spells the end of his international career.

Cummins effectively assed Langer after a series sweep in the Ashes and then got the teams major sponsor dumped because of his own personal views.

The idea he wouldn't do the same to Bancroft is utterly laughable.

The same Langer that lost not 1 but TWO home series against India…he was an okay limited over coach that’s about it. Drew to England in England against one of the worst English sides yeah we can blame Paine and his DRS fiasco but it should never have even been that close

Weren't India far better than Australia at that time?

Why highlight England were a bad team, but not highlight India were good.

Thats seems very disingenuous?

it also doesn't chance an ounce of truth to what i said, that Cummins would 100% cockblock Bancroft if he wanted too.

Article by Malcolm Conn in yesterday’s SMH - www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/the-real-reason-bancroft-was-snubbed-is-he-s-just-not-good-enough-20240111-p5ewfu.html

The stuff about Bancroft’s teammates talking about his deficiencies is interesting.
What I don't like about CA is that the preferred people have clearly been briefed with the talking points etc.
Warner anointing his replacement was just stupid but the whole Smith thing started with Watson. Anyone who doesn't think that wasn't orchestrated by key people in the Australian team to get the conversation about Smith opening started is kidding themselves. Watson was doing what he was asked to do and it was a decision that was already discussed and likely made by that point.

Robert Craddock has been reading the talking points as well over the past few days. There's definitely key people who are used by CA to validate what they do or at least their key points disguised as opinion.

I don't care whether Bancroft plays or doesn't play. I'm not Western Australian, Victorian or a Queenslander I have no preference or interest beyond feeling sorry for Bancroft. And the reason I feel sorry for him is depiste what others are saying it's clear there's key players in the team who don't want him there.

Warner - "Harris should replace me"...
Smith - "I suddenly want to open"
Cummins and the bowlers being the same.

Renshaw being selected as the back-up is clearly the 'he's our preferred when Khawaja' leaves statement. Renshaw has struggled at Shield level and even if he continues to struggle they're just going to keep picking him. Or will they just stop him playing shield so that he doesn't have to perform?
