MEDIA RELEASE FROM THE AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Clint Bartram wins Round 7 NAB AFL Rising Star Nomination

Melbourne’s Clint Bartram is the Round Seven NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.

Clint debuted in round one and has played all seven games this season. The 18-year-old’s tackling has been a highlight of his game and he is currently ranked seventh in the league with 34 tackles in total.

He has played in defensive ‘run-with’ roles and has matched-up against experienced opposition. Nick Stevens was his opponent in his debut match against Carlton and last Saturday in the Demons’ 59-point win against Fremantle he lined up against captain Peter Bell. During the NAB Cup and NAB Challenge his opponents included Jason Akermanis and Brent Harvey.

Clint played junior football for Ocean Grove and the Geelong Falcons. He was a member of the AIS-AFL Academy Squad in 2004-05 and represented Vic Country in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships in 2005. Clint was selected at number 60 in the 2005 NAB AFL Draft. He is currently completing Year 12 by correspondence.

CJ should still available for nomination as well. He has only played 5 games (1 - 06, 4 - 05). I am pretty sure he hasn't been nominated yet either.

What about PJ as well, hehe :)

I'm enjoying the flamers coming out on the main board questioning this decision. It seems that you have to be a statpadding whore to even garnish a mention these days by their rational. Its good to see they recognise the contribution rather then the personal stats.

Yeh exactly, its good to see a kid get recognised for something more then stats.

Top job Barters! :thumbsu:

Yeah. Barters has been consistent for most games so far. For mine, that is better than someone who's had one or two good games. Their time will come as well. The award is pretty overrated anyway IMO.

Hope he plays on Judd next week, beats him and at the same time convinces him to come to Melbourne. :D

Great kid, hard worker, just a real goer. Reminds me of Junior, and hopefully he ends up being just as valuable.

Very well deserved.

Ideally next two weeks would be Bate and then Dunn:). Biased I know but hey, they're the in-form youngsters of the comp.

Dunn must be a chance this week

If he kicked 4 instead of 2.2 I'd say definitely.

That is the only thing that's letting him down at the moment, inaccuracey in front of goal. Love the boy though and he will be nominated soon enough.
