Was especially great to see him overcome his chronic fatigue as I know the person who helped him get rid of it :thumbsu:

He's a wonderful person and definitely one of my favourite players. Although I've always been unsure of where his future is at the Club, as I think injury as cost him a consistent spot in the side. Hopefully we can at least see him for another year.

Great article. It should be on the Didak thread but it would be wasted on the knuckleheads who don't think character matters.

I've been on the get Didak bandwagon but do consider character as important, in this case hoping that the club imposes its culture on Didak rather than Didak imposing himself on the club's culture.

However, this article is the kind of thing that makes me reconsider everything I've said about not caring about the baggage that a guy like Didak would bring to the club.

Just makes me smile, that a player would write so kindly and honestly about another team mate.

Like the Hound, Mass gives his body & soul for AFC. Quality bloke & 1st Swedish born player to play AFL I think.

Missed seeing him hippee dancing at womad - will have to look out for him next time.

Great to see an article like that. Bass is a quality bloke as is Kris as are the rest of their team mates. Didak, Fev? Nah, let's keep the culture as it is. That's one of the things I like about Craig, he doesn't just look at the football skills but at the whole person.

Always interesting to read stuff about Mass; He's certainly a bit deeper than your stereotypical aussie rules footballer. I've had a few chats to him at club functions and he does come across as just a really nice bloke.

I always remember seeing some interview with him on one of these shows that just looked at footballers lives and he was talking about living with Brent Reilly and the interviewer asked how it was and he said he wanted to pass a message to Reilly and if the interviewer minded if he did it on camera. The interviewer said sure, go ahead. So Massie stared straight at the camera and said (paraphrased) "Brent, when we play PS2 and you always choose that character that I always lose against, I don't like it when you do that. I don't like it Brent. I wish you'd choose a different character Brent." - he kept a straight face the whole time. The poor interviewer had no idea what to say next and the interview ended.

I've loved Massie ever since then.

what a fantastic article from the hound-dog

Blokes like Massie helps build footy clubs and good footy culures, he sounds like a fantastic mentor for our youth

Everything I've read about Kris Massie leaves me feeling nothing but respect for the guy. He seems very intelligent compared to the average AFL player. I very much hope he survives the off-season culling, as I feel he is very important to our depth. How many other players on our list can come in to replace an injured player and peform in the varying roles that he does?

Hahah that is hilarious, would love to see that.

Mass played a very good game yesterday, great to see him dob a goal too.

I love the way massie has adapted from being a 24 karat stud as junior to his senior career not working out the way he had hoped.

people forget that the 1997 superdraft had 3 guaranteed studs all year long (hype sure, but that's all it ever is). Travis Johnstone, Brad Ottens and this Leigh Colbert look-a-like called Kris Massie.

He didn't just go at no.7, it was shock when he didn't go no.3. it had been assumed all along that he would.

things have been a challenge for his ever since, never again would things be so easy. and a like a true champ, he has sucked it up and gotten on with it. and he's had plenty of bad luck, but still he puts his head down and goes to work.

easy to see how a young lads head might have been turned, gotten inflated, and then spat the dummy... plenty do. but not this bloke.

all class. :thumbsu:

I,ve been singing Kris Massie's praises for years. Avery honest loyal footballer who has played some exceptional football over the years. I love the way that he plays for the Redlegs whenever he has played in the SANFL. (support here Drummond?).
He never spits the dummy as many AFL listed players have done when relegated and just offers great support for his team-mates, whatever league he is in.
He still has a fair bit of AFL football left in him yet.

Is he the most courageous player in the team?

I recall him being poleaxed in a contest with J Brown last year(?), being in the hands of a trainer, getting up to receive a handball and then kicking to a target. Like Bassett, he is inspirational in his attack on the ball.

Hard to go past VB for this one - and that's not just the usual "VB is God" stuff. Many times we've seen him standing in front of a charging gorilla forward, holding his ground to take the most courageous of marks.

However, Massie would be up there.

VB broke his collar bone (2006?) and kept playing. Enough said.

The guys that regularly fill the hole in front of Brown, Fevola, Pavlich etc, ie Stevens, Massie, Bassett, Doughty etc are just guts personified.

Jericho broke his sternum and came back on:D

Surely we could trade a guy with that type of courage?

Melbourne have been known to give great deals for hard-at-it types from Norwood;)
