I think I'll return my copy to EB for a full refund before the 15th. I've hardly had time to look at the single player and haven't joined in online, sounds like lots of issues. Will put it towards something else for the PS4.

Make sure you squad up. Going solo does not end well in this game, the majority of the time.

I do occasionally have a good run, with a kill streak of 5+ players, but most of the time you're only ever 2 seconds away from being smashed by bullets as soon as you down someone(especially on the maps where there's a bit of close quarters action going on), such is the ridiculousness of 64 players.

This. I've resorted to running a suppressor all the time now, even on the big maps, just to hide me off the map a bit longer. Occasionally I'll lose a one on one because of the damage reduction, but I'm finding it at least gives me a chance to stay hidden when there's multiple enemies around and pick off 2 or 3 without being spotted.

Choppers taken down in BF4: 3 already, not sure if worse pilots or better aim

There's a video I watched the other night about the issues they've got in the game with net code that covers what you're talking about here.
What you see and what your opponent sees is not the exact same thing. The timing is slightly out, and it's a real pain in the ass.

I think from memory it's on "jackfrags" YouTube channel.

I never knew it until I watched this video, but the time that elapses between when you press the spawn button and your opponents see you and when you can actually have in-game visuals and can move was something like 1.2 seconds. Meanwhile the opposing team have locked onto you or are about to unleash a clip into your unsuspecting body while you stand motionless with your gun at your hip.

No wonder I keep spawning on teammates to a face full of lead.

I only bust out the defibs on Locker or if playing Domination. Otherwise the blowtorch is my trusty companion.
