I personally don't understand why supporters see Kurt leaving as such a big deal.. IMO its a blessing in disguise

Seriously it makes no sense to me that he has been on apparently 700-750k the last 3 years. The great mystery to me is how he has been on this pay? His perfomance has not desreved it.. I would like an explanation? Either way he has been ridicuoulsy overpaid he has treated us like sh*t... He may get a couple hit-outs and miss goals when it matters however I will put money on the fact that we will trade well and get very good compesation for him.

Like I said we all hate him ATM however my main question is how did he get his price so high? He has never had a year like cloke/buddy yet he will be gettin paid more than them... No matter he did tp convince us and other clubs into believing he's a good player he has actually done us a favour. He honestly isn't anything special and if a team is willing to pay him 1million a year we will def. get more than he is realistically worth so CROWS FAN::

I've been saying Kurt is overrated for years. The only reason he's able to get big money is because there aren't many players of his type on the market these days.

To be honest though I'm pissed with the way the club has handled this. They knew he didn't want to be here. Everybody knew this. I remember the last time he signed everybody behaved like he was doing some us kind of huge favour. They even brought his little brother down to keep him company. How pathetic is that? We don't need people like this on our list. I want players who actually want to be at the club. If this means we have to start looking at more local players, so be it. The club will tell you they want the best talent in the country, not just South Australia and I understand this sentiment but its not working as well as it should.

It always concerned me that he was so overpaid by us, considering his output. Now it's Sydney's turn.

Yes King Elvis is correct it is about how went about it .
It is also about how close we are and over paid Yes by long way but hard to cover as our finals forwards apart from him Tex and Porps were horrible .
But me the most important he leaving on top of others not good image for club and give our players a thought minute something not right lets go blow you my teammates, club and supporters.
As been a terrible run of key player exodus . Just look at Eddie bleating when might lose a middle of pack player in Wellingham.
I will be happy if we can make a great deal and pull off a key player like Sando making noises about.

I dont think many people are thinking Tippett is such a must-keep player. The sky certainly isnt falling. Over the last 6 months Kurt has shown he is a pea hearted, lying money grabbing, backstabbing kind of guy who does not care for his mates. He has shown that each time he goes up for a mark he is picturing a bag of money instead of a football / premiership cup.

I think its great that this kind of person is leaving, and not only leaving but freeing up a massive amount of money and providing the potential to fill a gap in Adelaides 22. Jenkins is an adequate replacement.

Structurally, for us, he's worth heaps. Not sure though on a small SCG getting the best defender every week, if he's worth shit?

From a Footy point of view, I'm disappointed we're losing him - I rate him a lot higher than most of you; but I think Jenkins will cover the gap pretty well, and the extra money we now have wont hurt.

My biggest issue is just the nature of his departure - I always stuck up for him and defended him, and thought he was a decent bloke. Had come to grips with him wanting to go Home - but Sydney isn't home, and the pissweak way he's gone about it, and allowing his Manager to mouth off like he is...

Very disappointing.

I think it's obvious he's handled it poorly when you've got a lot of Sydney posters questioning whether they actually want him.

Do you remember the story on Mitch Morton? How they didn't trust him? how he had to earn the right to be part of their much heralded culture?

Either this culture thing at Sydney is all a load of shit or Tippet has done something (if he goes to sydney) really really stupid. He doesn't know what culture is, too late to start now.

Agree with OP completely (except for the "Bob Marley" part). How this guy managed to drive his value up so high remains one of football's greatest mysteries. Good player, but Lance Franklin he ain't.

Sando obviously rates him and I do too. What sticks in my craw is the time and money we have invested in the development of this guy. We've looked after him through injuries, kept faith in him through form slumps and guided him through his kicking yips. He now looks about ready to pay off, but we aren't going to see any return on our investment. Pisses me off greatly.

some ppl not very good at rewinding their memory correctly

why we offered big money to tip last time - cos we didnt know at that time that walker was going to turn out any good.

i realise i started the Adelaide's Most Hated thread, but i'm really quite content (hence, voted for Port Adelaide as my most hated). Think of all the positives! so much man love to be shared around. Danger, Batman, Tex, Big Sauce, Sando, Talia, Crouchy. My god we are going to be good! I wouldn't want 3 Tippetts for any one of these!

You make a good point. At the time Walker was considered unreliable and even a bit of a squib. He used to hang around the back of the pack looking for the easy goal. He never really asserted himself with contested marking either. He's a completely different player these days.

Seriously, this shit again? Look, I'm not overly happy how he has left the club, but I still know he is a damn fine player who was well worth his pay when we gave him his last contract. His last couple of years have been up and down, but the prelim showed the guy can still dominate at this level in a high pressure game and is well worth the money if that output is shown for the majority of a season.

We should be able to cover his departure ok, but his loss is still a huge blow to the club. His pay is what it is, the market determines that.

Getting out of Adelaide will be really good for his career, no doubt about it.

He was ok, his athletisism amazing, but I think that we paid for his potential.
I think that his trade value is at a high so it's the perfect time to let him go.
With Tex, Lynch, JJ, Lewis Johnston, McKernan we should be able to cover him fine, let's use the cash to get KPD or a Outside mid

Some people have trouble distinguishing between the player and the person, and Tippett has always been a player who has divided opinions so it's not unexpected to see the level of criticism he's getting now (in regards to his footy). I personally believe he is a valuable player to any team, not worth $1m, but still quite valuable.

We have not had an 'elite' forward since Modra and I fully understand the position the club took with Tippet over the years. Big marking mobile forwards who can pinch-hit in ruck are not easy to come by and picking him up originally was a great piece of scouting. Even though he wanted to go prior to the last contract renewal, nontheless he was probably worth the AFC extending the $ offer to hopefully keep him for most of his career as a Crow. OK his kicking deficiency has been a sore point but he is still improving and I'm sure the Cub felt he could ultimately be developed into a reliable kick. The emergence of GC and GWS has jeapordised our dealings with Tippett ( and favoured him) over the last few years, but I am happy with the efforts made by the AFC to keep what is/was a rare opportunity with a genuinely physically elite player.
But he didn't want to be here and I am now happy he has gone. What affect, both in the past and the future, would his known reluctance/dissatisfaction to being a Crow have had on team-mates, particularly in terms of the big dollars? I suggest it would have been a growing future concern for all, given his transparent lack of commitment to the Club, had we not had the emergence of Tex Walker. Under Sando, and with Tex, we have come to know and believe we can do it without Tippet. The post Tippet future is full of promise.

Maybe the Tippet case is unique, but the AFC must find ways to navigate around situations where players can avoid committing to the Club beyond a reasonable time. No one is that important.

OP linking to "Bob Marley" singing Don't Worry, Be Happy is almost as bad as the OP who called Roo a tool. Actually it's probably worse.

Tippett was probably overpaid for what he produced, but I'll wait and see what kind of trade we get before I'm too happy about it.

We paid him big time due to his potential, output and the fact that we wanted him locked away so that he wouldn't leave for GC... People have short memories...

So we were and other clubs are willing to continue to pay him on his potential at 25 years old? Output is clearly not worth what he is asking either
