mid 17's has been done, so its not a record.
yeh but its a draft camp record.

a beep test is a 20 metre shuttle run where you have to run the 20 metres before the beep and the beep keeps on getting quiker.

The results of this years draft camp have been released with some great results for our nation’s top young talent.

The best results went to South Australia's Tom Rischbieth who set two draft camp records. Rischbieth ran the 3km time trial in a time of nine minutes and 30 seconds and also beat the mark for the Shuttle run (or ‘beep test’ as it is otherwise known) finishing at level 15.8, another draft camp record.

Rischbieth smashed the previous time trial record by 32 seconds and lifted the shuttle run level from 15.06 to 15.08.

Both records were previously held by Sydney’s Jarred McVeigh while David Spriggs also shared the record for the time trial.

Several more clubs will now be keeping a close eye on the young South Australian.

For WA Jarred Oakley-Nichols performed well in the 20M sprint finishing second in 2.85 seconds with Andrew Swallow and Alan Toovey also finishing in the top 10.

Travis Casserley finished second in the shuttle run and in the top 10 for the 3km time trial.

The shuttle run was the best for the WA boys as there were four finishers in the top 10 while Garrick Ibbotson also placed well in the Vertical jump finishing fourth with a jump of 68 cm.

A good performance at the draft camp is usually an indicator as to who will be selected at this year’s national draft.

Typical AFL, getting more athletes than natural footballers.

I bet 99.9% of the Brownlow medalists wouldn't have even qualified for the camp.

This camp is shyte, I rather our recruiters just watch them play footy and see if they can hit the side of a barn with a pass and if they are any good at getting the pill, running around in circles is great but it doesn't win games of footy.

How many duds is this camp rating every year? The number of guys we have de-listed or are going nowhere that are rated highly in these camps is just mind-blowing.

great point TAS. these draft camp results are getting higher and higher each year and the reason is clearly that the AFLis mainly looking on athletes. not footballers.

I think you would be suprised, the results the players get are not outstanding. They are good but not in the context of elite sport. I once got 13.9 for a beep test and I am a crap runner, I was just fit. These blokes are just really fit although afew have that natural ability, which is expected.

i guess your right. i am 14 years old and this year i reached my record on the beep test 14.1. but theses results are acsending every year. check out a few year ago. the best was only about 14.5

I hope the next Plugger Lockett or Gary Ablett is hiding somewhere in the draft and gets picked up at No.79 because he failed the beep test and the 3km run. That'll screw up their scientific little draft camp.
