He'd wanna do better than last week, in what was dubbed a "winnable" game,, North won’t want him getting injured or getting smashed by King.

Negative. There is still a salary cap in playCongratulations, you're now advocating for the Premier League, where there's approximately 3 relevant rich teams and two dozen feeder clubs!
Sorry to tell you; Sydney would not be one of the rich relevant teams.

If a club loses a player, they need a pick (i.e. an ability) to get another player in.My opinion:
You should never get compensation for losing a restricted free agent, you have the choice to match and if you don't, bad luck.

E.g. if a club loses 3 players you can't just give them zero picks otherwise they'd have not enough players to fill spots.

Sydney are emerging as frontrunners to win North Melbourne defender Ben McKay’s signature after the Swans missed out on West Coast’s Tom Barrass.
Essendon were considered McKay’s likeliest destination if, as expected, the restricted free agent pursues a big-money contract elsewhere, but rival clubs, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they do not want to talk about other clubs, believe the Swans are favoured to land the big Roo.

The belief among those same sources is Sydney’s offer will be significant enough to trigger band-one compensation and potentially arm North with the top two picks in this year’s draft.
They have met McKay, just as the Bombers have, sources familiar with the situation told Money Talks.
That could have an impact on the Kangaroos’ chances of gaining priority access to Tasmanian talent Ryley Sanders, who is considered among the best eight players in this year’s draft.

North Melbourne have still not lodged an official submission with the AFL for special assistance, but that will occur, and Sanders was not on the most recent Next Generation Academy list sent to clubs on Tuesday.
Port Adelaide are the other club looking to bolster their key defensive stocks, with McKay, Geelong’s Esava Ratugolea and Bomber Brandon Zerk-Thatcher all in their sights.
People keep trying to conflate them for their own purposes, but I don't see how these two things are connected.Compo Pick 2 and Sanders academy pick are mutually exclusive events. The cards are in AFL's hand and I don't think there's any scneario where North get both.
I think it’s pretty easy to see how they are connected, if North were going to be adding pick 1 and pick 2 to a list that has a stack of young prospects they may not need the added assistance.People keep trying to conflate them for their own purposes, but I don't see how these two things are connected.
Any assistance North gets, such as access to academy players, will be decided well before the free agency period opens. If McKay leaves, the compo will depend on his contract, like it always does.
Ah yes. As per normal we are expected to be so grateful for the free petrol that we should forgive them for stealing our car.I think it’s pretty easy to see how they are connected, if North were going to be adding pick 1 and pick 2 to a list that has a stack of young prospects they may not need the added assistance.
Not at Geelong, they have a Costa Living Allowance on the side for recruitsNegative. There is still a salary cap in play

RFA means nobody can steal him. The ball is always in your court.Ah yes. As per normal we are expected to be so grateful for the free petrol that we should forgive them for stealing our car
Ben isn't the car and why are there balls now? You are mixing and ruining my beautiful metaphor. The car was meant to be our basic rights. We'll only give you this piddling handout if we get to treat you with contempt.RFA means nobody can steal him. The ball is always in your court.
Compo system is an absolute joke. How can north get pick 2 for a player who isn't even worth pick 2 in a straight trade
North getting pick 2 for a player they don't even want
You have all the cap space in the world and have sat without an offer even in front of him for months, you could offer more than the Swans could yet once again still no deal.We do want him.
Our coach has said we want to keep him.
Our list manager has said we want to keep him.
Fans want to keep him.
There's a difference between 'accepting he wants to leave and hoping we get good compensation', and 'not wanting him'.
I also strongly believe things balance out in the end. North deserve a bit of luck after the garbage way their father son was stolen from them by sydney though. These things all balance up in the end. Remember when the AFL let Port fudge Scott Lycett's contract so that WC could receive Band 2 compensation for Scott Lycett - which was the equivalent of Band 1 coz they'd just won the flag.
Just saying.
Scott *...ing Lycett.
Stolen? He came up legitimately through the academy. If not given that opportunity to be introduced to footy, he would have no doubt ended up playing nrlI also strongly believe things balance out in the end.
