An outstanding defender in the making. Has to work on his handpasses in close but his reading of the contest is second to none and so are his athletic attributes. I can seriously see him being one of the most dominant backs of the comp in years to come :thumbsu:

This kid is going places... a cool head, great mark and wonderful clearing kick and getting better as the year goes on

A champion of the future

love to see him work on his skills on the right side of his body like didak has. potentially could be one of our best players. cant wait till his body fully develops, he will be awesome. said 18 months ago he should be tried at centre half back, so glad it happened

Too early to call him a future champion but he is doing ok at the moment. Always thought he was a spud but he is proving me wrong which is a good thing.

Watching Reid's development this season has been a pleasure.

The way the football club has handled Ben Reid's development has been fantastic and given him every chance to succeed.

Unfortunately there are many narrow minded supporters who are unable to grasp why a young tall, key position player may not be playing his best football at 20 years of age.

It's interesting to look back at the 2006 draft and to find that it is onlt now that these young talented KPP are finally starting to show glimpses of their potential.

Hopefully we can continue to get games into both Reid and Dawes. Dawes is just about the most important player on our list at this stage in terms of development. Whether he is a success or bust means so much to the club. It may be the difference as if he doesn't come on, then we don't have much else there.

His scope for growth is massive. I still think he's a little undersized in the legs/trunk.

Once he develops that, he'll be an imposing CHB.

Both were very good tonight. Dawes is a big boy up close and seems to work well with Cloke.

I think Dawes showed some really good signs tonight with his contesting. It seems to be improving. He is looking to really get his hands up more often these days which has been a weak point of his, and he seems to be getting closer to clunking a few in his hands.

I feel that by the time he has played 50 games he would've found his feet and will probably average 3 goals a game and will have taken control of our forward 50.

We need him to, because if he doesn't, we'll keep falling short.

I know this is a massive call but he has a bit of Dustin Fletcher about him. Some contests I think he is done but he just sticks out one of them go-go-gadget arms and spoils it from miles back.

Great kick in terms of accuracy, penetration and vision, very strong mark, agile, very tall, super quick, good reader of the play, finds the ball, VERY long arms and improving as a spoiler. He exudes confidence as well which says a lot for the way he has been managed. He was the youngest player in his draft (got in by a day or 2 from memory?) and he has taken a while but this kid is a gem.

I think this is where he seems to be improving every week. He will be beaten at times, so we must remember that, but for me, Reid is without a doubt the story of the year when it comes to Collingwood.

We've unearthed a 200 game key position player with star capabilities.

I don't think it is too early at all. This guy has a massive future. :thumbsu:

I am not sure it is possible for Dawes to be a bust from here. He will be handy at worst, could be a star.

Well I hope he is a much better one on one than Fletch was. particuarly up against the bigger guys.

That switch to half back and his extended stint in the VFL has made him a completely different player. I thought his kicking was going to be a weakness and it looks like it will be a strength. He is even starting to make a mark in contested situations...

Congratulations to Ben and all of the people who have helped him get where he is now..

If he plays like he did tonight could he be a chance for the rising star. A like to like comparison could be Pears from last year. And for me, i'd rate Reid as the better prospect of the two, so could he be a chance?

Highly unlikely, Martin has it in the bag IMO but he might get a Premiership medal instead :p

He is a future full back no doubt.

the only problem i have with him is he sometimes uses with the ball too slow and gets caught out with it. needs to move faster.
