Hi everyone, long time reader, first time poster.

Follow Castlemaine in the BFL, really good to see them heading in the right direction.

Picked up some good local talent from the district leagues and Bailey Henderson from Strath. Easily the best preseason they've done in a decade in terms of numbers and quality. Not going to contend but should be more competitive and heading the right way.

Other positives are the netball program really picking up, have a feeling they might really shake up that part of the competition this year and the new women's team is also up and firing with an ex AFLW player coaching.

Enjoyed the discussion on previous pages about the issues with the points system and salary caps. No doubt the system is massively flawed and hurting clubs like Castlemaine. I'm not sure they are a viable club in the BFL going forward under the current system, but good to see them having a crack at it.

Are the clearances working for anyone else? Mines only showing 2021

PlayHQ in 2022.

And don't bother as it doesn't work!

It’s ridiculous..being able to see clearances generates a lot of interest and discussion and god knows country footy needs all the interest it can get these days
Yes mate AFL Vic didn't do their homework. Clearances are private to only clubs and the league. We punters cannot access them.

As you said, country Victorian footy needs all the publicity it can get. Stupid decision to move to PlayHQ based upon what we are currently seeing. (Or not seeing) I wonder who got paid.

Would be interesting to see if anyone connected to Brad Scott is involved with PlayHQ

The decision is illogical, utterly stupid and detrimental to generating interest in country football at a time when it has never been harder to get teams on the park. Look at the Benalla situation as to how fragile country football is.

Surely this crazy decision can be reversed.

On the positive side of things I think the BFNL will draw its biggest crowds for years on Good Friday with the Eaglehawk v South, Sandhurst v Strathfieldsaye and Kyneton v Gisborne matches.

The evening Kyneton v Gisborne game in particular should draw a massive crowd.

The previous system was shit and needed fixing, yeah you could see clearances but plenty of other things didn’t work real well.

PlayHQ simply isn’t ready, needed more testing.

The real problem is the AFL invested in the company and hence whether its any good today or not, its going to be used. Possibly for a very long time or at least until they divest their interest.

Roy Masters SMH has written a very good article on the whole system

PlayHQ is 25 per cent owned by Codeware , along with the AFL, Basketball Victoria and private investors.
