I doubt the BFl would lend 100k for the lights, in other circumstances the council has lent the clubs the money for lights with a payment plan.

I would suggest VCFl and sports commision they both have rounds of funding that they seek. not to mention the state government has them to would be a far better avenue then the BFl i would suggest

Doc's tips and previews - Round 10 (split)

Sandhurst v Strath Storm - 38
This should be an entertaining game with the QEO suiting both sides which love to run and carry. Sandhurst has put together some sort of consistency and will look to entrench themselves in the top 5 a bit more. Storm have to be able to shake off last week's drubbing and put in a more serviceable effort. Mark Fitzgerald is named in the reserves tomorrow so he should be back in the Seniors after the week off. Word around the traps is Hurst are courting a quality ruckman at the moment for a mid-season boost to their limited big man stocks. More to come (before June 30 of course!)

Eaglehawk v Gisborne - 90
Got to love Filo's never-give-up approach. His assessment of his side's performance is simple; They're a top 3 side that is still way below Golden Square... so the answer is they've got 3 weeks to chase one or two stars to pump up their premiership chances. I love it...

just looking at the draw and wondering when Weeks will kick his 100th? On 77 now and averages 9 a game so play Flat, South, Castlemaine and Sandhurst in the next 4 weeks.

Castlemaine away for me looks ominous. Any one else care to take a guess?

I think, as Maineman has stated, the BFNL Board can still assist Castlemaine and Kyneton get lights (and with other administrative matters). It can lobby various authorities on their behalf/assist in preparing submissions etc, just for starters. I think guys like the Fatman and Maineman are to be greatly admired and I am sure a little bit of support for these clubs would give them a lift rather than the present feeling of everything being an uphill battle.

Very disappointing 3rd quarter by my boys whereas the 'Hurst were very very good. Problem at the moment is that the Storm play 3 good quarters per match then come undone with one bad qtr. Hopefully the boys can finally string a 4 qtr match together against the Burra at home next round.

I think Storms 20 minute lapses will naturally go away as the club gets experience and growth over the next few years. But it was hard to watch the 3rd quarter, especially when they did so well in the other 3 quarters. But the 3rd is not called the premiership quarter for nothing.

General question Stormboy: With the height of the training light towers, does the club have a plan to add extra lights to them and make it a BFL night venue in the future?

I see in the Addy today that after many years the Bombers will get their way with the changing of the shape and preferred usage of the QEO.

Can people who was on the steering committee tell me if this was ever discusssed, or have we all been conned to pay a person $50,000 for a report that will eventually see the needs of one group achieved.

God get me a bucket please. I have just listerned to an interview on 3BO with the chairman of the Bendigo Bombers David Joss. Coggo and Sam Hargreaves conducted the most appalling suckholing and crawling interview I think have ever heard, Jossy this,Jossy this and Jossy that, what a couple of brown noses. Hopefully this pair will nick off too Windy Hill with the whining Bombers

:eek:just got an e-mail from a Bgo mate Ox with all this Sat results

Our Tiges kicked 1.7 [13] for the day and got flogged by south by 199 points --- 212 to 13. and the mate added a note. big jimmy was watching on from the sidelines

at least the maine was reasonably competitive. the big worry is that the bendy fl top 5 looks fixed allready and there's 8 rounds to go

albury: mail is that robins has done an elbow joint or similar

i can honestly say being at todays match that if it wasnt for the umpring and the pitiful surface of the qeo that kyneton wouldnt of beaten south comfortably......

It is interesting that the (Albury-Wodonga) Border Mail gets an initial write up of Ovens & Murray football on its website on a Saturday night whereas you always have to wait until Monday's Bendigo Advertiser (electronic or paper) for any discussion on Bendigo Football League matches.

Noting that the websites of the Border Mail and Bendigo Advertiser are otherwise very similar (carry the same storys) this is a direct invitation to someone from the adveriser to explain 'why is this so?'.

This is an example of what I mean. The contents are not of interest, but the report was on the Border Mail's Website by 6pm on Saturday night.

O&M: Albury shrugs off injury and brave Wangaratta
19 Jun, 2010 06:10 PM
Albury 3.7 5.14 7.16 12.22 (94)

Wangaratta 2.0 3.3 6.6 8.8 (56)

Albury withstood a third-quarter surge from Wangaratta to score 38-point win at Norm Minns Oval on Saturday.

The Pies got within nine points in the third term and trailed by 16 points at the last change but the Tigers steadied and kicked clear in the final stages.

Josh Merkel kicked four goals and played one of his best games for the Tigers while Wangaratta cult-figure Peder Whelan was the Magpies' best.

The only blight for Albury was what looked like a serious injury to classy ball-winner Andrew Robinson.

Read Monday's The Border Mail for a full injury report and David Johnston's expert analysis.

Its a tough situation the Bombers one. Nobody wants to take them to task for fear off upsetting them. The Advertiser sure wont do it and 3BO wont as they have agreements with them. Fresh sort of did (loosley) but they clearly look for any excuse not to travel here. Question, how many Bendigonians who are corporate sponsors or Essendon supporters hold Bendigo Bombers memberships......wouldnt be many. They dont do much to indear themselves to the community. As for the 3BO boys, thats how they interview everybody, mate this and Jossy that.
I just hoped they asked some tough questions and it wasnt in effect another statement where Joss just teed of at the city. Clearly they havent spoken to the council as the stories of their withdrawl and the QEO upgrade broke on the same day. Cr Peter Cox, said they hadnt even got a commitment from the Bombers, let alone a contribution for the upgrade. I spoke to the VFL CEO Peter Schwab, all he said is, "that it was disappointing", clearly had very little idea on the subject...

That should be who are NOT sponsors or Essendon supporters......sorry!

Joss and Oliver in their interviews on the weekend did not mention that the QEO will change shape as part of the proposed ground upgrade.

Does this mean that it will stay in it's current shape or are they just telling us what they want us to hear.

I don't represent the Addy in any capacity, but my guess would be it would simply be a bottom line, $ issue. One that is facing every newspaper in the world at the moment.

If the addy make this content available online, what do they get out of it apart from a few more hits to their website on a Saturday?

If they hold off until Monday, people that are interested buy the paper don't they? Online content currently represents no $ value to the addy until paywalls are introduced.

My 2c.
