He'll manage, he's very good with the hitouts and in the short amount of time he was playing in the ruck today he still managed to get 8 hitouts and used his body well. He'll be better than Laycock in there anyways, and it will be good experience for him. He couldn't do much worse than Hille or Laycock in the ruck work that's for sure. He's not strong enough to play in the ruck. Again today he was dominated by Jolly and Everitt when he played there, and has been for a while. Play him on Richo next week, and keep Laycock, who was OK today, for at least a week. SImmonds would have a field day on Ryder.

Hopefully not good enough to earn a recall!

Williams. The first time i have seen him play and i am still wondering why we did not take McGinnity or Arrowsmith or even a couple of other mids that where still available. Played mainly wing and looked slow. Didnt find a lot of the footy and was ordinary at the contest. Im not going to write him off on only seeing him once but he did nothing for me today.
Went up and had a look today. Only the second Bendigo game i have seen this year due to my coaching commitments.
Have to say they didn't do too badly considering the ordinary tallent on the Bendigo list. Never seen a bunch of slower small men in my life
Anyway back to the game. They where right in it until about 10 minutes into the last quarter and then the better Williamstown/Bulldogs players ran over us.
Skipworth was BOG for us i thought. Ran hard all day and was in and under the packs.
JJ was very good , had his usual ordinary kicks at times but worked well in the middle.
Johns lasted two minutes and went of with what looked to be a high hammy problem. Did not come back on.
Pears was pretty solid. Spent times at both ends and provided a good target at CHF when he was there.
Bellchambers did well in the ruck. Was ok around the ground but still has some work to go in that area.
Hooker did not do much. He gets to the right areas but gets oushed out of the marking contests too easily and is not overly strong in a contested situation.Do not think he will ever be much.
Chartres was reasonably good.
Magin did some good things but was very quiet in parts of the game.

Dyson found the footy a few times but wasnt damaging. I didnt think he ran hard enough today. Played a lot of time on the wing and did not get involved in the play as much as he should have.
Nash steady game. Used the ball well but there where others who where better. Not terrible though.
Another year and the same problem exist with Bendigo. The quality of the list is average and there is no real pace in the lineup.
A comment I have heard quite a bit around the traps this year. Williams is extremely raw, tests well in a few areas but was drafted on what he might be a LONG way down the track.
