2010
National Draft
14 - Brodie Smith
61 - Jarryd Lyons

Rookie Draft
15 - Tim Milera
32 - Jake Von Bertouch
49 - Lachlan Roach
64 - Ian Callinan
84 - Sam Martyn

Smith has been an out and out star for the Crows. Lyons has done exceptionally well for a player picked at #61 - 55 games for the Crows, 24* for Gold Coast.

Callinan was the best of the rookies, a mature aged small forward who gave us 1 good season (2013), before age & injuries took their toll.

Sam Martyn was our 2nd NSW Scholarship Player. He's better remembered for his middle-distance running than his football.

** This draft was heavily impacted by the Gold Coast draft concessions.

National Draft
27 - Sam Kerridge
41 - Mitchell Grigg
46 - Nicholas Joyce
64 - Cameron Ellis-Yolmen

Rookie Draft
5 - Rory Laird
23 - Dylan Orval
41 - Tim McIntyre
58 - Will Young (again)
73 - James Craig (again)
89 - Ben Dowdell

The National Draft is a disaster zone. Kerridge & CEY are both still on AFL lists, but there's not much in the way of quality here.

Laird is easily the pick of this group, and he came from the rookie draft.

Dowdell was our 2nd shot at the Irish experiment. It ended just as badly as the first.

** This draft was heavily compromised by the GWS draft concessions.

I kind of think any drafts before 2000 were almost in the prehistoric dart-board stage- so here's post 2000 (I have Hugh and CEY as 22-49 gamers, as they're 1&2 games off that, and clearly will get there)

2001 was a cracker - esp the rookie draft. 2007 was excellent, and 2013 was a brilliant strike rate.

I think our best picks would be out of Sloane and Talia. Two biggest competitors at the club and both AA.

Hard to say what the best draft year was, we've had about 2-3 good picks in just about every draft except 03. Drafting Talia set us up for a decade so I'd say 09. He's been a top 2-5 KPD for the past 5 years.

Walker at 75 was terrible though. Should have passed!

Our first picks since 2005-15 (ignoring 2012):
Douglas,
Sellar,
Dangerfield
Davis
Talia
Smith
B Crouch
M Crouch
Lever
Milera

1 dud out of 10. That is bloody good going

Strike rate is actually astonishing.

Anyone else in the comp match that?

Every player on the list (aside from Sellar) an AA and/or Club B & F except for B Crouch, Lever and Milera, all of whom you'd expect to get there (except Snake)

Thank you Vader for doing the work I should have.

2011 should have Luke Brown? I think this has the potential to be great if Brad can get right.

2013 in a compromised draft also looks good. Cameron should get to 100 games

Here's Port in the same period - 5 single digit picks compared to our 1 (if you count Brad as that):
2005 - Nick Lower (30) gave up pick 14 for Nathan Lowie
2006 - Travis Boak (4)
2007 - Matthew Lobbe (16)
2008 - Hamish Hartlett (4)
2009 - John Butcher (8)
2010 Ben Jacobs (16)
2011- Chad WIngard (6)
2012 - Ollie Wines (7)
2013 - Jarmen Impey (21)
2014 - Dougal Howard (53) gave up 17 & 37 for Ryder
2015 - Riley Bonner (37)

I'll take ours.

Not horrible though. Aside from Lower Butcher is the only one not still in the AFL.

From memory they had a rather yuck year where they quiffed on 2 or 3 first rounders? Possibly the ones they got for Shaun Burgoyne? I think it might have been Butcher, Andrew Moore and one other?

Pittard?

2009 - pick 8 and 9 Butcher and Andrew Moore - 91 games between them.

Missed out on Talia, Jetta, Fyfe, Gunston, Dan Menzel, Carlisle, Mitch Duncan ...

They are getting better. There are some handy footballers in there ( and so it should be) Boak, Hartlett Wingard and Wines have all repaid the faith of their single digit pick.

1995
National Draft
18 - Brent Williams
27 - Kane Johnson
45 - Spotty Dodges
53 - Adam Ugrinic
70 - Ashley Fernee

Pre-Season Draft
8 - Shane Ellen
18 - Simon Goodwin
21 - Brendan Logan

Goodwin, Ellen, Johnson & Hodges makes this easily the best of our first 5 drafts. That's 3 members of our premiership teams right there.
Spotty Dodges

Is that legit?

1992
National Draft:
26 - Marty McKinnon
41 - Brooke Fogden
56 - Matthew Powell
86 - Sam Smart
116 - Michael Godden

Pre-Season Draft
11 - Darryl Wakelin
27 - Josh Mail
42 - Nick Pesch
55 - Simon Pedler

Mid-Season Draft:
6 - Jim West
21 - Andrew Geddes
32 - Alan Schwartz

Marty McKinnon played 84 games - 25 for Adelaide, 54 for Geelong, 7 for Brisbane. The rest of them were nothing to write home about.
Wakelin would've been handy...

2005
National Draft
48 - Alan Obst

Obst was one of those rare players who was delisted only 1 year into his initial 2-year draft contract. He subsequently ended up at Melbourne, where he had a mediocre career, with kicking skills that made Charlie Cameron look like Tony Lockett.
He can now be found sniping blokes in the Gawler and Barossa league
Also what was Hudsons Hissy fit over?
