Of his 43 contests he has 18 wins at 43 per cent, beating a field of quality defenders including Tom Lonergan (32.5 per cent), Heath Grundy (41.5 per cent), Harry Taylor (34.2 per cent) and Eric Mackenzie (34.5 per cent). He has neutralised 18 of those 43 contests and lost just seven, also averages 18 possessions and he charges up the field.

He is one of the bests defenders in the AFL and there is a lot of people who will back me on that.

So what? How many goals has he conceded? Missing the first 6 rounds doesn't help his case at all.

LOOK AT THOSE STATS. He regularly beats his opponents in a 1 on 1 contest. And the thing is if you are playing in a side where the ball is mostly in your backline then yeah, you are going to get goals kicked on you. Lance Franklin is the only player that has kicked 4+ on him but none of his goals came from a marking contest, and by some people Rance still won that contest. He also kept Nick and Hawkins to 1 and 0

Alright I concede he has played well and I should've put him in the poll but has he been in the top 5 KPD this year?

Yes, he has taken his game to another level since last year, aswell as beating his opponents, he has gathered a lot of the ball to. Definitely in the top 5.:thumbsu:

In front of Taylor, Thompson, Talia, Mackenzie, Carlile, May?

He's be ok.

Who out of Hooker, Talia, Taylor, Thompson, May, McKenzie & Carlile has he been better than? He has to be better than 3 of them to be top 5.
Haven't seen Talia or Hooker this year so wouldn't know, Taylor and Thompson around the same as Rance, Better then May, Mckenzie and Carlisle.
He's only conceded 13 goals from his 9 games

If you asked every AFL club who they'd take out of Scott Thompson and Alex Rance, it'd be Thompson for every club including Richmond.

Hooker, Talia and Mckenzie can all have cases made as to why they have been number 1 this year and I'd have Taylor as 4th and 5th could be a whole host of players.
