Oliver will have been out for 8 weeks when he returns but I don't think he was the best player in the league before he was injured.
Bolton was called the best player in the league late last year and he's had a great year and been a matchwinner.
English is the best ruckman at the moment and takes marks around the ground.
Anderson has played some big games and is high up in the coaches votes.
Wot?
Who said Bolton was best player?

Jeezus

All bias aside, I think it's a bit premature to install Nick Daicos as the number 1 player in the competition.

So based on a combination of medium term and current performance, my ranking is as follows:
1. The Bont
2. Clayton Oliver
3. Christian Petracca
4. Lachie Neale
5. Nick Daicos
6. Toby Greene
7. Jeremy Cameron
8. Charlie Curnow
9. Tom Stewart
10. Connor Rozee
11. Darcy Moore
12. Zac Butters
13. Zac Merrett
14. Jordan De Goey
15. Jordan Dawson
16. James Sicily

I think there's a bit of a gap to the rest, who are a combination of emerging stars and stars struggling to find their best form/injured - Miller, Cripps, Walsh, Steele, Rankine, Serong, Brayshaw, Anderson, etc...
Great post I reckon. Having Daicos behind those top 4 is reasonable given they’ve had longer to build a body of work than he has, but with the way his footy is trending it looks highly likely he goes past them if we revisit this in a couple of years

We should probably hold off on declaring Daicos the best until he puts together a larger body of work. Guys like Petracca, Oliver and Bont have put together multiple seasons at a high level.

I voted Daicos anyway and Bont.

Oliver has won the last 2 AFLCA awards

Bolton was never called the best player in the league

English lol. I don't even know what to say

Anderson isn't even in the top 10 in the coaches votes

Gawn is prob top 10 when he isn't carrying Grundy.
Which would give Melb an amazing 3 players top 10

The fact that Oliver has been omitted and players like English, Dawson and Anderson have been included makes me want to laugh.

Greene is the most valuable but if you want the most consistent, a midfielder who racks up 30 touches a week (some of them meaningless), then Bontempelli, Daicos or Rozee are your best.

Petracca keeps kicking goals, he's right beside Greene.

Rozee, Moore, May, Dunkley, Neale, Miller and Lynch in the discussion
For me, you could put that top three in any order and it'd be reasonable.

Guys, you have it all wrong.

I think they true best player in the AFL right now is Tim Taranto. Dustin Martin and Shai Bolton might be close runners up.

One thing is for sure, the best player in the AFL must be a Richmond player.
