Hodge because Hawthorn went the old classic priority pick route and didn’t have financial assistance to keep their list together.
Voss
Cotchin

Trent Cotchin has always given off Cameron Ling vibes.

Premiership captains but objectively ordinary footballers.

Still think guys like Pendlebury, Pavlich and Nick Riewoldt are better captains than Trent Cotchin.

Could even argue Tex because the poor bloke must be the only or one of very few to captain a club through the death of a coach.

I'd probably have the two that weren't knocked out of finals by Mason Cox 1-2

I voted Voss but all 3 are great premiership captains. All led by example.

Those posters on here belittling Cotchin clearly did not watch him play. He threw himself into each contest without regard for his welfare as did Voss and Hodge. All 3 were great leaders.

Voted Voss, but strongly considered Hodge.

Cotchin is a bit of a laughable comparison

How often has the GOAT captain and the overall GOAT - period - played together on the same side though?

Case closed.

If the question is on whole career, it's clearly Voss and by a fair distance. Qualities as captain are probably comparable though.

Yeah but where would you put it?

As a player

1 Voss 2 Hodge 3 Cotchin. No contest.

Captaincy
1. Voss 2.Cotchin 3 Hodge

As captains Voss & Cotchin had tougher tasks than Hodge , insipring a new merged club and a club starved of success for 37 years (and very few finals campaigns as well) to success. Hodge led a very succesful club, though perhaps he may had to do a balancing act between Clarko and the players.
