Could name a dozen i dont trust to show up in the clinches. Not sure why Blicavs seems to be the only one getting roasted.

Our team is structurally incorrect for the contemporary game anyway. We go in playing far to tall and we also lack pressure forwards. Ive always maintained our forward half looks far better defensively when both Linc and Gregson are in the side, the latter in particular is a pressure and tackling machine who is super undervalued.

In saying that i think they both lack a level of creativity and XFactor, i truly have high hopes for Miers.

I understand (don't agree with) the criticism of Blicavs, can see the argument for Kolo.
However putting Menegola in that category is utter nonsense. The guy just finished 6th in our B&F but now needs to be depth for us to improve.

Yeah nah.
The way I see Megarola and I don't mind him to be honest is we have brought in Ablett, hopefully Cocky is over his injuries and Gregson and McCarthy should push him as well for a spot in the 22 (if they can stay fit,) as to will Parfitt, Parsons and even Simpson showed a bit this year and maybe Kelly or Mies will break into the side.We need this push from below to improve the side. And yes a rising tide will floats all boats so Meganolla may work on his disposal and concentration and fight them off.
But if it's policy they played last year so they play this year we are f--ked.

I was at the gym the other day getting flogged on this new elliptical thingy and its all wifi enabled so I was flicking around you tube....

Damn McCarthy added some quality to the F 50... Gregson did too.... hope both of them get back...

Go Catters

no doubt about that, and when you throw Cocky in to that mix there is reason to be very excited.

Agreed! I think the nature of our injury patterns in 2017 to mostly small forwards should not be overlooked or under-rated. Whilst no excuse for the extremely poor showing inner 2 finals losses, it felt like those injuries threw our whole forward structure completely out of whack, and we were just playing whack-a-mole from mid-season on with failed experiment after failed experiment. It's very hard to imagine that with Gregson, Cockatoo and McCarthy plus the forwards we drafted, we won't have at least one dangerous crumbing forward available each week. We need a Chapman-esque F50 player so bad...

None of this applies to Menegola. He played well last season and is better than all those listed. You’re being harsh to include him.

Its not about being better its about what position you play

how many inside mids do we need and how many are Menegola better than?

Danger, Ablett, J Selwood, S Selwood, Menegola, Blicavs

how many do you want playing? personally i think 4 is enough

We really don't need to change too much. It's a system that needs tweaking more than anything rather than our structure.

Quicker ball movement by foot and less reliance on handball.

multiple finals thrashings over a few years requires more than just a tweak

I’m really hoping to see this more next year, but I reckon with a more stable forward line the team will improve dramatically anyway.

However, words are cheap the JLT will be good to watch how the younger players perform in the team structure.

Danger and Ablett are quite proficient as forwards, so that definitely leaves a spot for Menegola.

Take a look at the kick/handball ratio in the Sydney final compared to the others.
You can kick alot more when youre under no pressure though.

Bews Taylor C Guthrie
Tuohy Henderson Stewart
Cocky Selwood Duncan
Parfitt Hawkins Menegola
McCarthy Buzza Miers
Smith Danger Ablett
Selwood Menzel Blicavs Gregson

Threw it together without much thinking, probably missed a few that shouldn’t have been but no ****s given.
Oh my god can 2018 start already!!!!!!

Not arguing with you. Just the first line got me thinking.

I am going to re iterate what I have said a few times before. The 2007 side had plenty of players who failed to turn the 2004 /2005 opportunities into a premiership. Not even going into the 2006 squad.

Quite a few of the "failed" finals players from the last few years could still be important players in a premiership side to come. But winning those cups is very very difficult.

unnecessary HANDBALL makes up a lot of our style of play. I'm like a broken record in this regard.
handballing with some synergy would be nice. only ever saw when they whole team went into run mode. they need to work with each other A LOT more so they can anticipate where their target will be and those that could possibly get the pass be looking for it and what they will do with it. I'd like the team to have the mindset that if they are cornered they can aggressively handball to a spot or direction where they are confident a teammate is moving forward.

Hope Cocky can add something he averages 9 possies at 58% efficiency yet we are all have him a best 22 lock, the club pops him up everywhere as the pin up boy...obviously has talent but at some point soon he has to perform consistently or he may just get overrun by others now we have better small forward/mid depth.

Atm overrated value to the team, it's all that percieved potential that attracts.
A midfield role to turn that around?
Sub 10 just isn't good enough.

I've already seen enough of Cockatoo to discard (perceived potential)this kid is as talented and confident as they come,he just needs time on the ground along with a injury free run. He's going to be an excitement machine.

I have no issue with handball or football so to speak ... but we have to be willing to risk more... and kick more goals. Our D will cough up the odd goals anyway.. so lets forget the slow and steady ... and go for a bit more run and gun. If we cant be more attacking with the SAD midfield then we may as well forget it..
