Can we get some guys at practice get on the end of a few of his kicks... just looked like both Hawk and Menz were caught by the ball being delivered too well...He has to play given he can deliver i50 and half our team can't. Imagine when the guys who can win the ball (danger and both selwoods) are back and can feed him to take a stride and hit a forward. That should be the plan.

Go Catters
I really thought there was one...Cheers, I couldn't find one Daz.. But if you can find one...
I wouldn't mind having a go! Geelong seem to have a pretty well-balanced side. The arrival of Gary Ablett, plus other stars, such as; Dangerfield, Selwood, Duncan and Jordan Murdoch, probably makes their midfield the best in the competetition! I think Taylor goes back to replace Lonergan, and Blicavs goes to centre half forward, allowing Hawkins to play closer to goal! With that in mind, here is their best 22!
FB: Tuohy, Taylor, Kolodjashnij
HB: Thurlow, Henderson, Bews
C: Duncan, Ablett, Cockatoo
HF: S. Selwood, Blicavs, Menegola
FF: Menzel, Hawkins, McCarthy
R: Smith, J. Selwood, Dangerfield
I: Murdoch, C. Guthrie, Parfitt, Stewart
I reckon Fogarty is ahead of Miers at this stage... But largely agree with the above. I'd also go with both Guthrie's ahead of Thurlow.Until hendo and scoot are back:
B: bews Blicavs Kolo
Hb: Tuohy Taylor Stewart
M: Duncan Ablett Menegola
HF: Kelly Hawkins Cockatoo
F: Menzel Crameri Parfitt
R: Smith JSELWOOD Danger
Int: 2 of Zuthrie/Cuthrie and Thurlow plus the best 2 small front half players (Gregson and Miers for me)
Stanleys a potato as a fwd and Buzza and Sav are not ready. So either we pick Crameri as the 2nd KPF or we go smaller and use a Menzel/Ablett/Danger/Menegola type deep (ie guys who can mark) although we probably then need to bring in a key back and use Blicavs as 2nd ruck.
Menzels spot to me is still shaky because he doesnt chase and pressure.
Kelly and Parfitt will rotate ok into mids so i would pick Gregson and Miers as the specalist smalls but Parsons Jones and Fogarty are genuinely in the frame for those last 2 spots i think.
Really? Didn’t see “it” in Fogarty but did in Miers.I reckon Fogarty is ahead of Miers at this stage... But largely agree with the above. I'd also go with both Guthrie's ahead of Thurlow.
Liked this team, but maybe Kelly and Menegola have a better tank than Cocky... I think Cocky stays forward with those two pushing on the wing.New crack at it
Bews Blitz 2E
Stewart Taylor Zuthrie
Duncan Selwood ****
Kelly Hawkins Parfitt
Menz Crameri Miers
R:Smith Danger Gaz
IC: Menegola, Cunstable, Fauxgerty, BigSav(hopefully can ruck a bit)
Hendo & Scooter are obviously injured so not in.
Stanley, Murdoch and GHS can f**k right off and not play again. I'd rather play raw kids than go to that well again.
CGuthrie and Kolo should earn their spots like everyone else.
Zuthrie is better under pressure and a better defender than both of them anyway.
This is bang on.Until hendo and scoot are back:
B: bews Blicavs Kolo
Hb: Tuohy Taylor Stewart
M: Duncan Ablett Menegola
HF: Kelly Hawkins Cockatoo
F: Menzel Crameri Parfitt
R: Smith JSELWOOD Danger
Int: 2 of Zuthrie/Cuthrie and Thurlow plus the best 2 small front half players (Gregson and Miers for me)

Agree, way to early but nothing wrong with having a crack.
I'm about to give it an early go myself. I can imagine the stick I'll be getting...Haha.
My view, it is too difficult to comment on Kelly & Fogarty at present so I'll be a bit more conservative but will be happy to revise on preseason form. All draft highlights can be misleading and its boys v men.
The back line I agree (CatRiot) with entirely based on this year performance.
I would have C.Guthrie in the interchange spot even that he was off the boil and not at his best this season however I still think he is ahead of Thurlow, Zac Guthrie & O'Connor. Gardner had a solid VFL season and should be getting game time in 2018 and keen to see how he will go on the big stage.
Def:
B: Bews, Taylor, Kolodjashnij
HB: Tuohy, Henderson, Stewart
Int: C.Guthrie
In the Midfield I see the below as our best and strongest selection. Some will have Danger or Ablett up forward but lets face it, these stars can play anywhere really. Main reason I selected Blicavs in the interchange spot is due to back up of Smith and his tackling, running ability he brings. IMO he is ahead of Stanley although he can ruck and is a better forward target while Buzza is still developing but I have selected him in the forward line. I thought Abbott was very solid in the VFL this year and I wouldn't mind seeing him get a go at AFL level.
Mid:
C: Ablett, J Selwood, S Selwood
Fol: Smith, Dangerfield, Duncan
Int: Blicavs, Menegola
Forward line is by far the toughest selection and biggest challenge. We all know Linc, Gregson & Menzel are capable at the top level but I have put lines through all these blokes. Yes, some will be fuming at this comment but injury returns and performance managed are big "What Ifs" to me and that's why I have gone conservative. And, yes preseason form may make me change my view. I'm sure I will also cop it for Murdoch and Parson inclusion here but IMO they had a very decent 2017 seasons. Crameri in the interchange spot just based on his experience and presence in the forward line. I think House, Jones & Simpson all showed glimpses at VFL/AFL level and may be in the mix for 2018.
Fwd:
HF: Murdoch, Buzza, Cockatoo
F: Parsons, Hawkins, Parfitt,
Int: Crameri
Anyways, that's my view at present but will admit there are easily 6 spots up for grabs in our best 22.
I do hope the new draft picks - Kelly, Fogarty, Constable & Miers do bring the goods.
I think Narkle is still injured with an ACL but I would like to know a status update on Esava & Henry as to where they are at and as for players like Cunico, GHS, Black & Hayball (why did we re-draft him) I consider them as deadwood.
Until hendo and scoot are back:
B: bews Blicavs Kolo
Hb: Tuohy Taylor Stewart
Rd 1
Bews Taylor Kolo
Tuohy Blicavs C Guthrie
New crack at it
Bews Blitz 2E
Stewart Taylor Zuthrie
Hendo & Scooter are obviously injured so not in.
Attempt three closer to season
Thurlow Taylor Bews
Stewart Kolo Tuohy
Considering we don’t have any more JLT games now before Round 1 I’ll give it a crack:
FB: Bews - Taylor - Stewart
HB: Tuohy - Blicavs - Thurlow
"Star defender Lachie Henderson (knee) is still on track to return some time between rounds one and four, while Scott Selwood (ankle) is on a similar timeframe."
fair points.I'm confused as to why Henderson and S.Selwood are not considered due to injury. I thought the whole point of a "best 22" was that it included all players on the list, regardless of their availability for selection.
If injured players are excluded, then how does the "best 22" (without injured players) differ from the teams people propose in the weekly match threads? One of the above posters even wrote "rd 1" above - I thought that's what the match thread is for?
Also, if Dangerfield is deemed unavailable for round 1, then presumably he would also not be considered part of Geelong's "best 22" if Henderson and S.Selwood are excluded due to their injuries.
Especially since both Henderson and Selwood should be available by round 5.
