Crazy assumpition everyone is fit - my best 22 IMO:

FB Raines Thursfeild Newman
HB J Bowden Polak Deledio
C Tambling Coughlan Johnson
HF Pettifer Richardson Polo
FF Kingsley Schultz Brown

OB Simmonds Tuck Foley

I Pattison Hyde P Bowden White

---

Slightly unrealistic as it doesn't include Greg Tivendale (22 games last season) or Andy Krakouer (17 games).

Intersting to see how Ray Hall, ditto Trent Knobel goes this season.

Darren Gaspar will be first choice FB one would think.

* Those 5 are the only matures players on the list not to be in my XXII.

* The rest are up and comming kids; Meyer, Reiwoldt, Hughes, JON, Connors and the rest.

From this we can conclude the list is in pretty good shape; at least alot stronger than it was - a 'solid' best 22 with the players outside the best side promising young players, bar a crop of mature aged (Tivendale, Krakouer, Hall, Gaspar, Knobel) who need to produce this season to be part of 2008 onwards.

FB Raines Gasper Thursfield

tough one. at this stage i'd say:
FB: raines thursfield newman
HB: j. bowden polak polo
C : tambling johnson deledio
HF: pettifer Richo p. bowden
FF: brown schultz kingsley
R : simmonds tuck foley
int: coughlan hyde pattison gasper or white.
i think howat is a little stiff to miss out as well.
there it is. i had a crack. cheers

Amazing how difficult this is:thumbsu:
Here's my attempt (the best AT this stage):

FB: Raines Gasper Thursfield
HB: Newman Polak J. Bowden
C: Deledio Johnson Tambling
HF: Pettifer Richardson Meyer
FF: Brown Schulz Kingsley
R: Simmonds Tuck Coughlan
I: Pattison P.Bowden Hyde Foley

B: Will Thursfield, Darren Gaspar, Chris Newman
HB: Chris Hyde, Graham Polak, Joel Bowden
C: Dean Polo, Mark Coughlan, Kane Johnson
HF: Kayne Pettifer, Jay Schulz, Jack Riewoldt
F: Kent Kingsley, Matthew Richardson, Nathan Brown
R: Troy Simmonds, Andrew Raines, Brett Deledio
INT: Adam Pattison, Richard Tambling, Pat Bowden, Daniel Jackson

* Alot of people have gone for a very tall backline; more or less 4 KPP's. Quite top heavey (Gasper Thursfield, Polak J. Bowden) not enough run? I relise Joel and Will and 'proper' KPP's but each is 190cm-sih, has quite abit of size about it.

* Is Hughes or Reiwoldt in our best side?

* Im not sure if Kingsley is a bench type player. I get the feeling he will either be a key forward or not be in the side. (ditto Gaspar)

You are right - Tough one

finally we are getting some competition for places - :D

pretty good points there bents. it always amazes me that people put new draftees in thier best side. i wouldnt put thursfield in it yet. has played some great games and looks the goods, but gas is the proven full back. hughes might be there by the end of the year but he doesnt command a spot yet. anyway here is mine...

b raines gaspar newman
hf johnson polak j.bowden
c tuck deledio polo
hf tambling richardson pettifer
f kingsley schulz brown
r simmonds coghlan foley
i/c pattison p. bowden hyde white
em tivendale hall krakouer

I agree on the Kingsley/Gasper remark. But assuming they are playing to a decent level, both should be in our best 22.

Definitely room for change, and the squads will all depend on our opposition. For example if the opposition play a tall forward line, we have to respond likewise. However on pure defensive strength, I think the squad I gave is our best 6.

B: Newman Gaspar Raines
HB: Polo Polak J.Bowden
C: Deledio Johnson P.Bowden
HF: Pettifer Richo Tambling
F: Brown Schulz Kingsley
R: Simmonds Tuck Coughlan
I:(from) JON Pattison Meyer Edwards Tivendale Krakouer Thursfield Riewoldt

Instead of giving 4 interchange I went with a group as it would depend on the opposition and conditions.

My Go!:D

FF Brown - Richo - Kingsley

HF Jack - Shultz - pettifer

C Deledio - Johnson - Tambling

HB J.bowden - Polack - M.white

FB Gasper - Thursfield - Rains

R Simmonds - tuck - Cogs

I Foley - Hyde - Tiva - Polo

Missing -

Pattison - Casserly - Andrew, Collins - Conners - Edwards - Hall - Hartigan - Hughes - Jackson - Knobel - Krakouer - McGuane - Meyer - Moore - Newman - JON

It's hard to pick tho, i would like newman, pattison as a second ruck and even howat to be in the side, but as the year goes they will get there chance you would think, Krakouer is a bit harsh as well.

Who will be 2nd ruckman in that side? Polak?

Me :), Nah your right, i was just emphasizeing the fact that it is hard to choose althought the need for a second ruck isn't much of a choice, anyway if i was apart of the selection commitee then you would have validity to nit pick.

Besides that it my first team selection so ******** OFF :D

hahaha I wasn't having a go at you, it was a serious question. Polak played some of his best football in the ruck this year.

B: Raines Gasper Newman

C: Tambling Coughlan Deledio
HF: Pettifer Shuzl P.Bowden
F: Kingsley Richardson Brown
Fol: Simmonds Johnson Tuck
I/N: Foley Hyde Pattison Meyer

Okay here is my shot at it:

Best 22 (Without Injuries)

B: Newman - Gaspar - Raines
HB: J. Bowden - Polak - P. Bowden
C: Polo - Tuck - Johnson
HF: Deledio - Schulz - Pettifer
F: Brown - Richo - Kingsley

R: Simmonds - Coughlan - Foley

Int: Pattison - Tivendale - Hyde/Krakouer - Tambling

Emg: Meyer - Hall - Hartigan/White/Thursfield

I think 2007 will be a tough year for Hyde...his spot in the starting 18 is being challenged by many younger players with better attributes.

Best 22 (Current Injuries; No Cogs, Newman)

B: Raines - Gaspar - P. Bowden
HB: J. Bowden - Polak - Polo
C: Deledio - Tuck - Tivendale
HF: Pettifer - Schulz - Tambling
F: Kingsley - Richo - Brown

R: Simmonds - Johnson - Foley

Int: Pattison - Hyde - Krakouer - Hall

Emg: Meyer - White - Hartigan

Hall named on the bench depending on match ups.

Rnd 1 NAB Cup vs Geelong

B: White - Gaspar - P. Bowden
HB: Raines - Polak - Polo
C: Johnson - Tuck - Tambling
HF: Pettifer - Pattison - Krakouer
F: Jackson - Hall - Meyer

R: Simmonds - Foley - Deledio

Int (6 man): Moore - Howat - Schulz - Hartigan - JON - McGuane

Richo + Browny will probably play or at least one but I decided not to name them
