That's dogs … isn't Thylacine a mutated cat thingie me bob?
Dunno. If he is colour blind, maybe he wants it in 50 shades of .... never mind. Disturbing

Apparently today with 9 players in the 18-21 year olds is the most we’ve played in 2018. Maybe forever.

We had nine players in that age range playing for us in the 1979 Grand Final;)

The result didn't come, we lost against the old enemy and had to walk away with another gallant loss but what did come was actually a very impressive result on our AFL Rankings. Look at some of these results, Patrick Cripps goes BANG, increasing his rating by a lazy 14.9. Charlie equally exploded by 14 and Zac Fisher, Matthew Kennedy and Paddy Dow increased by 10 and Cameron Polson got boosted by 7 after a strong performance. It was an impressive result all around by our kids on an AFl Player Ratings standpoint.

You may note the system has changed slightly, i've given up on SEN ever getting their rating system back up so i've stolen Supercoach to try and add a little extra layer of additional review. This is the best impartial metric I can find to try and rank a player's individual game performance. So hopefully we can start to see a bit of growth on their supercoach average. Let's see how it plays out.

Patrick Cripps had a HUMONGOUS game, he had 187 Supercoach Points (wow), 20 contested possessions, 29 disposals at 82% efficiency and 7 clearances. Cripps took control of the game at will, he took 7 marks including 3 contested marks, kicked 3 huge goals and laid 9 tackles. He is in Brownlow form. Charlie Curnow, can this guy stop exceeding my expectations? Not all all? He took 5 contested marks, FIVE! Kicked 3 goals and had 19 touches in all. Matthew Kennedy came back from his injury and looked like the man we recruited. He fought so hard, finding it 21 times, including 10 possessions 2 clearances and 3 tackles. Paddy Dow had a second or third breakout game (maybe the Rising Star nomination may come) he had 20 touches, 9 contested possessions, 4 clearances, 4 tackles and 3 inside 50's. Samo Petrevski-Seton spread really well taking 6 marks in 16 possessions and sending the ball inside 50 with precision twice. Jacob Weitering has worked back into form recently, he played really well as the second KPD. He marked well, taking 9 marks including a handful of brilliant intercept marks while collecting 11 touches at 82% efficiency. He also defended excellently against Mason Cox to pick up 11 1%ers. Zac Fisher struggled to get into the game after being blocked and battered at each contest. He had 17 touches and 5 clearances showing he can impact even when being limited by the opposition. Aaron Mullet returned and did.. play, he had 15 touches at 80%, took 6 marks and 2 1%ers. Jed Lamb was quiet this week, despite the game being niggly and confrontational which he would normally thrive in. He had 20 touches, 5 marks and 5 rebound 50's playing out of the defensive half this game. Cameron Polson came in and put on a LOT of pressure, he only had 4 touches but had 5 tackles and will undoubtedly get tickets from Bolton because of it. Jack SOS played more through the midfield again but had more limited impact this game with only 11 touches, 5 marks and 3 tackles (although they were BIG). Lochie O'Brien had 9 touches at 78% efficiency, 5 marks, 3 tackles and 1 inside 50. Lachie Plowman unfortunately went down with a knee injury and finished with only 3 touches. He had 5 1%ers in his brief time on the ground, giving us a glimpse of his importance to our backline. Cameron O'Shea, wasn't in the side originally and should not have been. 10 touches and 9 clangers... it says it all really. Not much more is needed.

Just had a look comparing our highest rated 22 players against Richmond's. We have an average rank of 252 with 281 points while the Tigs are at 184 & 345 respectively. Could argue that kind of suggests a 20% improvement across the board is roughly all that's needed to make up the difference between each end of the ladder.

Also looking into our 'top 22' there's a few names who probably won't be the future of the club, some who aren't necessarily getting a game each week. There's a decent sized chunk of kids who are (or will be) getting regular games so their rank should start to jump up as they accumulate weekly scores to their record.

(1-11) Cripps, Kreuzer, Wright, E Curnow, Simpson, Docherty, Murphy, C Curnow
(12-22) Casboult, Petrevski-Seton, Mullett, Fisher, J Silvagni, Kerridge, Kennedy, Lamb, Graham
(23-33) Marchbank, Lang, Garlett, A Silvagni, Phillips, Cuningham, Dow, Williamson, Shaw, McKay, Pickett
(34-45) Macreadie, O'Shea, Lobbe, Byrne, O'Brien, Kerr, Polson, De Koning*, Glass-McCasker*, LeBois*, McDaid*, Schumacher*

I'm looking forward to a lot of names that 3rd quarter pushing up into the one above. I've bolded the younger crop mentioned by Arrow for reference. * indicates yet to play.

Hey guys i'm thinking of experimenting with something. Does anyone know, or would like to comment on the "prototype" lineup.

I.e how many rebounding defenders play in our side, or a great side (a side that can win a premiership), how many intercept markers, how many wing runners, how many pressure forwards, how many crumbing forwards, how many contested ball winners, how many uncontested accumulators, how many key defenders, how many contested marking key forwards, how many leading forwards? Can anyone make a suggestion?

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

FB: [Lock-down small defender] [Key position defender] [intercept marker]
HB: [Rebound defender] [key position defender] [rebound defender] [intercept marker]

R: [ruckman] [contested ball winner] [breakaway clearancer]
C: [wingman] [contested ball winner] [uncontested ball getter]

F: [high half forward] [contested marking forward]
FF: [pressure forward] [leading forward] [crumbing forward]

Does anyone have any thoughts?

And who are the prototype players in the league for that position, is Andrew Gaff the prototype wingman? Is Patrick Dangerfield the prototype breakway clearance player? Is Robbie Gray the protoype high half forward? Is Patrick Cripps the prototype contested ball winner?

60 games down and only 6 to go.
Then the pain will be over.
Right?
Like I said in the Bookmarked thread , the 66 game rebuild will turn Into to a 132 game rebuild . Carlton wont contest finals until 2022 I reckon. Feel for Simmo that he wont win a flag with the Blues as a player. Perhaps as an assistant coach.....

Feels surreal that there is only 6 to go

What’s the outcome of the 66 games?

Is it to say its only up from here and we have the players just need them to develop.

Is it to say we should be competitive next year, not necessarily making finals but pushing with 4 weeks to go type of thing.

How do we define a successful 66 game rebuild and have we achieved it?

I don't really know to be honest. I originally thought we'd be playing Finals at the end of this year.

It will depend on this offseason. If we recruit quality players in the 24-28 bracket we'll do okay... if we don't I'm very worried

It was never told as a rebuild. It was a reset. What do you think reset means?

I’m referring to the thread title.
I guess I can ask the same questions replacing rebuild with reset I still don’t know.
Either way I’m fine with the path we are taking just want to understand the concept of the 66 game rebuild/reset

Come the end of this delist/trade/draft period a huge chunk of the players we perceive as not up to it will be off the list.

We will have a vastly new crop of players we believe can take us forward.

There will be changes each and every year but this will be the last decent cull. Then its all about getting games into the kids and teaching them.
