Could probably drop Cripps, Docherty and Weitering off the poll, surely? I think everyone agrees they're automatic best 22 already.
I mean, if it helps get other names on the list. Otherwise I'm not fussed if they stay.
I think it would screw up the votes on the poll. You can only change the poll option not remove the poll. So say you change Cripps to Gallucci he would still have 99% of votes...

In Round 11 this year i'll start a completely fresh poll and see how it goes from scratch

Very early days but I'm loving the look of Macreadie. Only 18 but reads the play nicely and already looks comfortable playing at senior level.

That mark he took yesterday afternoon cutting in front of Hogan was terrific.
I confused him with Marchbank quite often.. Both look solid defenders, just need one of them to bulk up a bit so they can handle the power forwards like Hogan.

GAME 24 Rnd 2 - LOSS vs Melbourne (64-86)

11 Youth Players
Coaches Votes: Patrick Cripps (3)
Player Ratings Points (AFL,SEN):

Patrick Cripps - 452.7
Sam Docherty - 394.3
Jacob Weitering - 194.7
Lachlan Plowman - 189.3
Jack Silvagni - 54.6
Charlie Curnow - 48.1
Caleb Marchbank - 55.2
Billie Smedts - 16.5
Sam Petrevski-Seton - 13.2
Jarrod Pickett - 13.2
Harrison Macreadie - 6.4

We went in unchanged for the match against Melbourne and maybe it did some good. We certainly played better than we did against Richmond, almost pushing Melbourne to the end and teasing with a potential win after a brilliant third term. We played 11 youth players again showing a commitment to investing in youth, I would like to see us drop one more senior player and push towards 12+ youth players per game as the situation depends. Currently we are dealing wit a limited output from our youth core. As you can see from the numbers above after Lachlan Plowman our AFL Player ratings drop off significantly. Players below 100 AFL player ratings points are not consistently performing at AFL level or havent contributed enough as of yet. We are feeling the affects of missing players such as Sumner, Kerridge and Ciaran Byrne from the youth lineup who were more consistent and proven AFL players. Obviously the rating doens't carry for potential and players like Kerridge may not be the way forward bu they are contributing more to the team currently than some others. What we need are some of those players sitting below 100 to have big games and push upwards. Caleb Marchbank jumped 10 ratings points this week after a couple of brilliant performances. Meanwhile Silvagni and Curnow are rising far slower, Silvagni did not even rise a point this week, although he may be forgiven due to his injury. What we would like is Curnow, Silvagni and medts to cement themselves in the best 22 and perform like it and we will see the rankings shoot up again.

Patrick Cripps was close to best on ground for the blues but copped a broken jaw from a thuggish shot from Jordan Lew You have to marvel at the man who managed to pick up 10 clearances, 29 possessions 17 of which were contested. Cripps has also shown a greater interest in kicking the ball kicking more than handballing again this week and showing off his skills, including a dart to set up Sam Petrevski-Seton's first goal. Sam Docherty made a couple of crucial errors but tried hard all day. Doch needs to work on one-on-one defence and laying tackles but his tenacity was there to see including a goal saving smother on Jesse Hogan. Docherty finished the game with 29 disposals at 82% efficiency, 10 marks across half back and 6 rebound 50's. Lachie Plowman is quickly becoming our best defender, he has 18 disposals at an astounding 94.4% efficiency took 5 marks, had a clearance to go along with three rebound 50's and two 1%ers. Caleb Marchbank formed an integral part to our three key defence youth pillars with 16 disposals 6 marks, including one contested four tackles and four 1%ers. Jack Silvagni copped a knock and played sore only managing 13 disposals, six marks and two inside 50's. Billie Smedts had a quieter day than last week but showed he can make things happen with his run and carry, he had 16 disposals 1 mark, 1 clearance and 3 tackles. Jacob Weitering couldn't find much space up forward only managing 14 touches, 6 marks, 3 1%ers and an inside 50. Sam Petrevski-Seton kiced his first goal and made some critical plays, he had 13 disposals four marks, two rebound 50's and two inside 50's to go along with his goal. Jarrod Pickett worked into the game more than last week but still only managed 9 touches, and four tackles. His 5 clangers weren't the best look for the team. Charlie Curnow was quiet up forward and looked lost at times but then showed a few glimpses of brilliance including a centre clearance in his 7 touches. He did go at 85% efficiency which is good, at least he didn't make errors when he had the pill. Harrison Macreadie rounded off the kids with another positive game. He didn't break any records but a one clanger game in ten possessions four marks and some key defensive acts will leave anyone happy with the effort of the second gamer.

Awesome, SEN still not up and running w/ their ratings?

SEN has their votes up for Round 2 now as well, will update the post after work and will update the graph for next week. it appears they are being slower this week and upload by tuesday, I may wait to uplaod the weekly update until Tuesday nights now so I can include the SEN ratings.

I consider the SEN ratings quite valuable as they show the ACTUAL game performance of our youth week in week out (even if it may only be one source) rather than the overall growth of their AFL player rating which is based off of a much larger body of work.

We got a win! And against the drug cheats as well. What a gutsy effort by the boys who played harder, cleaner and smarter in the pouring rain than Essendon did. Some of the youth really stood out in this game as shown by their presence in the Coaches Votes this week. it was a massive game for our defence who conceded very few goals and rebounded well off of half back.

The numbers throw up some interesting points this weke. Firstly welcome to the 400 club Sam Docherty, 400 is a huge milestone in AFL Player Ratings and shows a player is truly elite. Most impressive are young defenders Lachie Plowman and Jacob Weitering. Plowman has been elite this year and his numbers have spiked, passing Weitering to join him in the 200 bracket. That is four players over 200. I think 200 AFl Player Ratings points is a sign that a player is consistently performing at best 22 standards. We've now got four locked and loaded, not long before a few of our other boys join them as well. On the negative side it was really hars to See Pickett's score halve from 16 back down to 8. I don't know what Champion Data does with these ratings but that seems odd, whilst Pickett didnt have the best game hard to see how his score drops so much. Marchbank was in a similar vein dropping a few points besides playing quite well in the wet. Oh well, the numbers will turn around with each game they play because they are NOT performing poorly.

Sam Docherty was immense in the rain yesterday, 20 Disposals (no handballs) at 75% efficiency in awful conditions. The elite half back took 9 marks, had 4 rebound 50's and had an immense 6 1%ers in the win. Patrick Cripps went about his business and had some amazing moments. His goal in the first to get us under way and the chase down tackle of Dyson Heppell were wonderful to watch. He even had the audacity to do a look away handpass off of back 50 in the fourth quarter with the game on the line. It was one of his 24 possessions (12 contested) in a match that includes 5 marks, 4 clearances, 4 tackles and 3 i50's. Lachie Plowman is one of the best defenders in the AFL right now - period. He had 18 disposals at 94.4% efficiency he looked a class above off of half back. He had 6 marks, two contested marks, 3 rebound 50's and 6 1%ers. Sam Petrevski-Seton had sublime tocuh on the night finding grip where there shouldn't have been and space where there was none. He had 17 disposals, 8 tackles and a goal in a game where he was unlucky to avoid the rising star nom. The image of Jack Silvagni with hands up in celebraiton as the rain pours down is truly magnificent. The soul of Carlton's youth had 11 touches, 4 marks, 8 tackles and 4 1%ers on a day where players stood up and were counted. Tom Williamson didn't miss a beat on debut, the lucky charm had 15 touches, 2 rebound 50's a clearance and 5 tackles in a very very good debut. Caleb Marchbank had some great moments but didn't dominate the defensive 50 like he has the last few weeks. He had 10 touches at 80% efficiency, 5 marks and impressively 7 tackles. Jacob Weitering got knocked unconscious but came back to show his class in the final quarter. He had 10 disposals 2 contested marks, three tackles, and 5 inside 50's. Jarrod Pickett did some unfortunate things, like dropping a chest mark at centre half back but his 11 disposals, 3 tackles, and two inside 50's showed some promise. Harrison Macreadie had 5 disposals at 100% efficiency with 6 tackles and 4 1%ers. Sam Kerridge fumbled a lot in the rain, more so than he should. He only managed 8 possessions which included 4 clangers but kicked a goal to put the dagger in Essendon's heart.

From the Magoos:
Midfielder Nick Graham asserted his influence despite the Blues' 29-point season-opening loss, amassing 37 disposals, 11 inside 50s, 10 marks and eight clearances. Draftee Zac Fisher and swingman Kristian Jaksch kicked an equal team-high two goals each, while omitted midfielder Billie Smedts had 21 touches.

Jerry can you explain why Marchbank and Pickett have fallen so much? Seems so unfair.

Not really, but I guess when you're that far down the list greater fluctuations are to be expected.

Marchbank has had a terrific start at Carlton but statistically his game against Essendon was not as prominent as his first two outings.

Pickett had a big drop - despite what I would argue was his best game for the club thus far. A good game on Saturday night might see him experience a similar jump up the rankings with his R1 game dropping out of the 3 game rolling timeframe.

This is why, i.e. their games rated appallingly. Champion data doesn't account for the weather and hence all the ratings are quite low compared to other games on the weekend.
