I think you're going to be hard pressed ti crack 300 odd without 30+ games due to the rolling 40 game average system but they can definitely get up there.

If we continue to play the kids like we are we should see a huge spike in numbers towards the back end of next season when the majority of our 2015 and 2016 draftees hit 30-40 games.

I expect by the end of 2018 the more experienced youth like Cripps, Docherty, Weitering, Plowman, Silvagni and Marchbank will all be top 200 easily. Byrne an outside chance as well.

Very correct.

Had another look.

To hit the top 400 you'd need ~160 points (4 points/game), top 300 is ~235 (6 points/game), top 200 is ~307 (7.5 points/game).

That's for a 40 game pace though.

So far, Williamson is on 7 point/game, SPS 8.5 points/game, Fisher 9 points/game.

At his current pace, Fisher is projecting quite well (around ~150th in the league).

Going early? Ya, I know.

GAME 27 Rnd 5 - LOSS vs Port Adelaide (47-137)

13 Youth Players
Coaches Votes:
Player Ratings Points (AFL,SEN):

Patrick Cripps - 460.6
Sam Docherty - 405.7
Jacob Weitering - 213.1
Lachlan Plowman - 226.5
Jack Silvagni - 84.4
Charlie Curnow - 58

Sam Petrevski-Seton - 43.3
Jarrod Pickett - 16.3
Harrison Macreadie - 21
Tom Williamson - 21.4
Zac Fisher - 17.7

Average: 125.6

We set a record this week, and it wasn't for huge losses at Adelaide Oval, it was for our record number of youth played in a single round. This week against Port Adelaide Cam Polson debuted and joined four other youth to debut this season. Looking at the numbers this week we notice a few things. Yes, our overall average AFL player ratings points dipped this week as we debuted another player (who of course starts with 0). This week we had 5 players under 25 AFL Players Ratings points, when thinking of that comparatively those five players don't even equal Jacob Weiterings low 200 AFL Rating. We know those five players are worth collectively much more than three quarters of a Weitering (regardless of how good young Jacob is) but the AFL Ratings take a time to build and so will our average score. In addition we noticed a couple of annoying AFL Ratings, firstly Cam Polson somehow has a score of -0.4, I didn't even know that was possible and regardless that is an insulting score. He should get points for that amazing chase down regardless, and secondly Jarrod Pickett continues to have limited growth on the Ratings system, after five games now Pickett has only managed to crawl to 16.3, notably Petrevski Seton is at 43 in the same amount of time and even Harrison Macreadie is passing Pickett with his 21 Ratings Points. A few of our youth need to lift but other signs are good.

Also i've started keeping track of a second factor regarding AFL Ratings points, i'm going to unleash it mid season but it should show us another perspective on the teams growth as a whole, get excited. Onto the players.

Patrick Cripps... there were rumblings he was out of form on this board, a piece of his shine had seemed to have worn off and he came our and reminded anyone who doubted him how special of a player he is. The beast had 37 Disposals, 18 contested possession, 7 clearances, 2 centre clearances, a rebound 50, five tackles and two inside 50's with only three clangers all game, what a star. Sam Docherty joins him at the top of the stat box again with 29 disposals of his own, 7 marks, 3 clearances in a fresh look at how he plays through the midifield, and a very large 11 rebound 50's throw in 3 1%ers and only 2 clangers and it was a quality performance. Charlie Curnow had a run on the ball and showed us some promising glimpses. Although he had 4 clangers and went at only 63% eff, he had 19 pretty impactful disposals that included 3 inside 50's and 3 rebound 50s, he took two big contested marks and had one clearance. Lachie Plowman had the ball 17 times, going at 82% eff, down on his normal output, taking 7 marks, one contested and rebounding well 5 times. Jack Silvagni took 7 marks, had 18 disposals, made no clangers and kicked a goal. Sam Petrevski-Seton had 16 disposals but unfortunately had 5 clangers, he took a contested mark and had two clearances to remind us what he can do however. Caleb Marhcbank has been ultra-consistent finding another 13 disposals including 7 marks. His four clangers hurt but 8 1%ers shows just how pivotal he is to our defence. Tom Williamson looks at home at AFL level, with 18 disposals, 5 marks, 4 rebound 50's and 3 inside 50's he delivered the ball well by foot. The game was hard for any Carlton player to get really involved and it showed in our youth. Zac Fisher continued to run and carry delivering the ball inside 50 two time and found the footy 17 times. Cam Polson had a brilliant run down tackle but only found the pill 11 times and couldn't impact the game much. Jacob Weitering had a very quiet night only touching it 9 times, 5 1%ers were impressive from him however. Harrison Macreadie had 8 disposals and 2 1%ers. Jarrod Pickett had another quiet night with 3 clangers in 7 disposals, needs to show more.

From the Magoos:
Young key forward Harry McKay produced an encouraging performance for the Northern Blues against Williamstown last Saturday, kicking the first three goals. David Cuningham pressed his claim for a return to the seniors with a fine display (23 disposals and a goal). Sam Kerridge and Nick Graham racked up plenty of possessions, collecting 31 apiece

Huge jump by Doc.

Weiters and Plowman on the verge of cracking the top 300.

Weiters' next 14 games should all be additive to his points total, and given his trajectory, he'll likely end up at 150.

Docherty A.Silvagni Plowman
Simpson Marchbank Williamson

Byrne to replace Simpson in time but after Saturday might be couple more years !!

Like Williamson too , Cousin SOS balances the backline !!

GAME 28 Rnd 6 - WIN vs Sydney (97-78)

13 Youth Players
Coaches Votes:
Player Ratings Points (AFL,SEN):

Zac Fisher - 22.5, 3
Billie Smedts - 23, 3

Average: 151.5
, 5.25

Firsts things first may I saw congratulations on 50 games to the best contested possession and clearance player I have ever seen. Patrick bloody Cripps just played his 50th game, we beat the Swans and Patrick became the record holder for most contested possession and most clearances within 50 games of AFL football smashing the likes of Liberatore, Sam Mitchell and Josh Kennedy out of the water.

Secondly **** SEN Inside Football Ratings, those lazy pricks have been so slow this year often taking a week to upload the weekends ratings, I checked today to see if they had last weeks up and they hadn't even gotten around to that. The last time they updated the ratings was Round 4 against the Suns, absolute joke, lift your game SEN

Onto the stats for this week! What a huge week for some of our movers. Tom Williamson was sublime on the weekend and his rating showed it, jumping up to 34.7 from 21 last week, he's averaging over 11 ratings points per game which is enormous. Sam Docherty's huge week across half back also shot him up about 12 places in a big return for effort to a consistent competitor. Billie Smedt's rating finally started going in the right direction and our only poor result was a 0.3 drop from Sivlagni due to his injury in the first quarter. This week saw our Average AFL Player rating spike from 120 last week to 150 this week. That was due largely to the inclusion of Graham in the side, but I think we can see how for our teams performance and for the AFL players ratings, that a balance of more experienced youth and first years is better off for the side. The best part is that although we omitted Macreadie, Polson and Pickett this week we still introduced Graham and Smedts meaning we kept our youth numbers at a very high level compared to last year. As we look forward into next season we will begin to see youth numbers in the 15+ range, however I think the 11-13 range is exactly where we want to be at this point in time.

Who to start the review off with? We had so many amazing performances this week. How about Caleb Marchbank, who was nominated for the rising star off the back of his 21 possession game which included 10 marks, 3 rebound 50's, 2 1%ers and 4 inside 50's from the back half. Sam Docherty was immense with 39 disposals, 12 marks, 5 rebound 50's and only 2 clangers in that amount of football, going at 87% over almost 40 touches is an titanic effort. Patrick Cripps didn't disappoint in his 50th game with 27 disposals, 7 marks, 4 clearances, 7 tackles and a crucial goal. Nick Graham came back in and didn't look out of place, managing to impact the game even off the half forward he managed 17 disposals at 88% efficiency, 6 tackles and four inside 50's, when pushed into the midfield he managed to pick up 3 clearances. Tom Williamson was so poised on the weekend, he ran through the center square like he was a class above, ignoring cheap passes to senior players calling for it and delivering it, lace out, to players forty metres ahead. Willo had 18 disposals, 4 marks, 5 1%ers and 2 rebound 50's. Sam Petresvki-Seton is this close to a breakout game, the mercurial midfielder had 20 disposals, 6 marks, 2 goal assists and a goal. Jacob Weitering looked at home leading up to the ball on the wing and provided an essential link in our forward entries. He had 17 disposals, even with a corked thigh that limited his game time, he went at 94% efficiency, took 8 marks, 2 contested marks and had 2 assists and a goal. Charlie Curnow keeps moving up into the midfield and I love it, he had 14 disposals, 6 marks, 2 contested marks including a Kouta like grab between two defenders on the wing and delivered the ball inside 50 twice, he is making a case to be considered for the rising star soon. Lachie Plowman had a down game this week with only 10 disposals, 5 marks, 3 1%ers and no clangers. He did his job but didn't stand out on the day. Billie Smedts didn't do a lot wrong although could have made better use of his chances. He had 14 disposals, 2 marks, 4 1%ers 1 goal and 2 score assists in a solid performance for his current standards. Zac Fisher had limited impact, only managing to find the ball 11 times, he had 2 inside 50's but couldn't make much impact. Jack Silvangi got injured int he first quarter and could only manage 2 disposals a mark and a behind.

From the Magoos
Midfielder Blaine Boekhorst was a class above through the centre with 27 disposals and a goal. Fellow forward Harry McKay and ex-Crow Sam Kerridge also kicked two majors each, with the latter gathering 30 disposals

An unofficial welcome to the top 300 in AFL player ratings, Plowman and (hopefully) Weitering.

That makes it 11 in the top 300, 8 in the top 200.

The best sides, Bulldogs and Adelaide, have 16 in the top 200.

Keep working, we are trending in the right direction and the kids are all moving up significantly.

Like most of us on here I'm getting excited about list. The last couple of weeks I think have been the most enjoyable football I've watched Carlton play since what I think was our zenith on our previous rebuild - the 2011 Elimination final.

That 2011 side was a good side, not a great side and still well short of the talent to really challenge for the flag. I tried to match up our current (plus and minus a few) to that 2011 side and I think it shows that in 2017 we still have a way to go ie. the 2011 looks good in comparison but couldn't go all the way. (Waite also missed that game.)

...that name again is Mr Plow.

As a response to the update:

Plowman started the year at 428 and our 20th ranked player, astronomical rise to 284 and our 10th ranked player, and going.

Weiters started the year at 393 and has now broken the top 300.

Some significant movement for Marchy, Charlie and Samo.

Some huge jumps from SPS, Marchbank, Plowman, Weitering & Charlie Curnow.

SPS finds himself the second highest ranked first year player, behind Sam Powell-Pepper (508). At this rate I'd expect SPS to finish the season clearly the highest ranked from his draft class. Williamson is currently sitting in 9th.
