Reduce the 22 year waiting list & make more money from selling grand final tickets to competing clubs.
Sounds like a financial win...
No AFL competition ever has "home" GFs.
Access for competing clubs is equally shared.
The Optus stadium GF only allocated 12k each to competing teams members. 40% went to corporates/sponsors and hospitality.
You do realise the SCG has its own members reserve. And AFL members will get an allocation, plus the corporates...so what do you realistically think would male it down to Sydney members....it would be under 10k.
Yet you think this is a win??
There are similar number of Sydney and Brisbane supporting MCC members as that of Bulldogs and North.
An SCG GF would be shite for everybody, except SCG members who would get in.
Would love the sooking if Adelaide made it, and you guys were given say just 8k tickets for Adelaide members....which is realistic guess, what an improvement!!

The mCG needs serious investment to modernise to the levels of other modern stadium that have streaked ahead of it, It’s not even the best stadium in Melbourne as far as viewing football (unless you are level 2 on the wing.. corporate box seats) As it stands the MCG is a poor viewing experience for 80% of attendees and unless it has a crowd of 70k+ it has a souless atmosphere.
That is what the contract extension is about!!
The MCC will upgrade the Southern Stand in necade, and the $1+billion debt will be lumped with them. They then use the MCC fees to pay this off
That is the entire point of the extension, AFL gets it main stadium upgraded and it is MCC not the tax payers in Vic that pay it off.

I'm saying the competing clubs should have access to 100% of the grand finals tickets like any other final outside the MCG.
It's really not a hard concept to grasp.
Yet you believe cricket supporters are more deserving than the competing clubs members.
Also, other clubs shouldn't get tickets.
You do realise that the has 100k members for a 23k reserve.
That all 18 clubs sell premium membership packages that guarantee GF access if they make it...and they base that on the 17k allocation they get at the G.
If GF turn to go to SCG, and club members will only get 8k tickets....ALL 18 clubs will have to reduce the GF access memberships they offer.
Optus only offered 12k to competing club members.
ALL 18 clubs will take a hit if they can no longer sell 15k memberships at a premium with the GF access add on.
Another big improvement.

At an Adelaide Oval final, how many tickets go to Adelaide Oval members?
At an SCG final, SCG members still have thier reserve etc.
You do realise they are stadium memberships, MCG and SCG are called cricket clubs as the grounds are called cricket grounds.
The 2021 GF at Optus gave just 24k tickets to competing clubs members.
So you think dropping club member access by 11k is a win for the fan....on ya pal.

No tickets go to Adelaide Oval members for football.
I'm a SACA member & it gives me no access to football.
Same i believe for all other states... except you guessed it... Victoria!
What other sport allows a competing sport priority access over its own members?

I'm a SACA member & I have no access to football using it. I have separate Crows membership. Combined I pay more than MCC membership.
Football & Cricket membership is separate.

You have SACA and Adelaide Oval Football memberships....football members get access to finals.
SCG members get access to AFL, NRL, cricket...it is a stadium membership.
GABBA members cricket and Lions games

Adelaide Oval Football Members have a reserve for all AFL games, plus get SANFL.

They are stadium trust memberships
SCG, GABBA, MCC give access to the own reserve for sporting events at the respective grounds.
Adelaide Oval Football members get the following
- Access to the Western Stand for all Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide minor round games played at Adelaide Oval*
- Priority to purchase tickets for AFL finals games played at Adelaide Oval
- Fully transferable allowing you to share with family, friends and workmates
- Access to six minor round SANFL games at local grounds
- Access to all SANFL Finals and the SANFL Grand Final played at Adelaide Oval
Move the GF to SCG, SCG members have their reserve...competing club members will get less than 10k tickets.
At Optus, competing club members received access to just 12k tickets.
If you want most club members to have a chance at a ticket the G is the answer - 35k club members get a cost price ticket.
If you want to shaft club members, yeah move it around.
Just admit it mate, you will never be happy.

Confirmed that all grounds have stadium memberships and specific reserves for their members? Yeah that is what I am aware of.
The SACA agreed to have some $80m of debt paid by the govt as part of the deal to bring footy back to AO and relinquish control to football. Where the MCC takes on billions of debt to managed the upgrade themselves.
Just a minor difference, what a waste of SA tax payers money!
And yes just like at other grounds SCG, GABBA, MCG there is a AO reserve at the football for AO members and they get finals access at the moment.
