Award

The Guy Richards Medal will be awarded to 1 player who will be judged by 20 different voters as the Collingwood player of the year.

The award will no doubt go to a player with great consistency, courage, skill and a player who put everything he can into wearing the famous black and white stripes in 2008.

Format

As with The Age's and the Lou Richards Medal voting system, voters are to select their 5 best players for the game in question, and award a score out of 10 to each player in their top 5.

The award also awards consistency to a degree.

An example of the format:

Travis Cloke 9
Scott Pendlebury 8
Josh Fraser 8
Alan Didak 6
Dale Thomas 4

Voters

Here is a list of dedicated and non biased voters that will decide the award and who receives the Guy in 2008.

Rules

Voters are to vote at the conclusion at each game, and before the following Tuesday (Wednesday Queen's Birthday weekend) so that votes are able to be tallied up before the following game.

If you are not able to vote on any game, please notify that you are unable and find a replacement.

Other then that we start this Saturday.

May the best player win, and I look forward to seeing plenty of input.

How did I get dropped from voting in this award when I've done it the last two seasons?

I put a thread up not long ago for people to express interest.

I'll put you as first emergency, because i'm tipping someone will drop out.

Just found out I am working tomorrow, which is starnge for someone recently unemployed! But I may not see the game... although I will listen, which is hard to give votes on... please have a reserve ready, although if I work my arse off, I will be home in time

I may as well kick things off

10. Anthony Rocca

Don't expect to see me give many 10's, but Rocca played the complete key forward game today, with big strong contested marks, hard leads, and contests that brought the ball to ground. Clearly BOG for me.

8. Heath Shaw

Just kept putting his body on the line all day when needed.

8. Dane Swan

Just ran and ran and ran all day.

6. Rhyce Shaw

Played really well and set up a lot of run through the ground. His foot skills still need polish but he had a big influence.

5. Dale Thomas

Just did some great things at times they had to be done.

Honorable mention to Chris Egan and Alan Didak who were both great.

9- Rocca

Not much needs to be said. Top effort

8- Dane Swan

Usual Swan effort. Kept getting the ball

8- Didak

Looked dangerous all day, provided some goals out of nothing as usual

7- H Shaw

He's a born defender, and he showed why.

7- Medhurst

Played a brilliant game imo. Great defensive pressure in the forwardline and was very smart.
