Here's the completed side .
Backs - Newman McGuanne Moore
Half Back - Lids Astbury Connors
Centre- Conca Cotchin Edwards
Half Forward - Morton Griffiths Taylor
Forward -Post Riewoldt King

Ruck - Graham
R/Rover - Martin
Rover - Foley

Interchange - Jackson Grigg Tuck
Sub - Houli

Fire away !

Kings suspended
Good side, but I'd swap Tuck, Jackson and Moore for Batchelor, Derickx and Rance. We can't be playing more than 1 of Grigg, Jackson and Tuck. I'd take Grigg just to see what he can provide

I love the side, really looks like Jack will have some support up forward this year with Griffiths(get some games into him and just watch him grow), Talyor(same as Griffiths) and that serial pest Jake King buzzing around Jacks feet ready for the crumbs. Chuck in Deledio resting forward, or even Cotchin, and we now have at least 5 players the opposition will need to keep an eye on...... not like last year where we bombed to Jack 99/100.
Morton i forgot to mention, he'll probaly spend 30-40% of game time up forward, which could mean 2-3 goals a game from him if he keeps up his form. Hope the Postman can continue to develop as well, just needs to get some confidence in him.

I just want the season to start:(.....

still a fair way to go for r 1 ...but my early tip for debutants are Batch and X man...more to come

:cool::thumbsu:
The more Batchelor plays in defence the more Deledio can play in the middle. We're a good chance to win we have a centre square such as:

Starting-cotchin, martin, foley
Rotating-deledio, morton, grigg
Occasional stints-conca, contin, houli

Post worries me. Just hasn't shown much to warrant a spot. I'd debut Batchelor rd 1.

Post showed great signs in his debut year (2009). He took some great marks and worked hard up the ground but was still an under-developed kid. Dimma made him hit the gym after '09 season and he came back in 2010 with a much larger frame and extra kg's. 2010 he didn't adjust to all the extra kg's and lost some of his athleticism and mobility. With a strong pre-season this year, I see no reason why Posty won't be in our best 22 this year... A player to watch in 2011 IMO.

Backs - Dea Astbury Moore
Half Back - Batchelor Rance Newman
Centre- Morton Cotchin Connors
Half Forward - Lids Riewoldt Taylor
Forward -MacDonald Griffiths Conca
Ruck - Graham
R/Rover - Martin
Rover - Foley

Interchange - Houli Grigg Tuck
Sub -Derickx

Changes I would make to the side:
Dea Batchelor Rance MacDonald Derickx in replacing King Edwards Jackson McGuane & Post.

Jackson only misses out because of the tendonitis that he has suffered which would mean his match fitness just wouldn't be there.

MacDonald is nowhere near fit enough, RT. Dea still doesn't have the skills or awareness.

Here's my team.

B - Batchelor McGuane Thursfield
HB - Deledio Astbury Newman
C- Houli Cotchin Connors
HF - Conca Griffiths Edwards
F - Taylor Riewoldt Morton

Foll - Graham, Martin, Foley

Interchange - Vickery, Grigg, Tuck
Sub - White

...farmer gourdis astbury

...newman mcguanne connors

...grigg martin delideo

...cotchin reiwoldt morton

...conca derickx edwards

...graham.......tuck..............foley...

...sub/jackson...moore...batchelor...houli...

Just got told on the Carlton board the back 6 we chose is the worst back 6 in the league.....

:) :) you waste your time posting over there ?
Lids is a better rebounding back than they have , Newman likewise , Astbury shows more potential than any of their backman and Connors would be better than their 3rd best rebounding defender . That leaves McGuanne and Moore who if at Carlton would be their best KP backman . Easy to criticize !

Kings suspended

Are you taking the p155 MT. If the 3 you mentioned are all fit for the season, they will probably play 22 games together.

And you rate Rance ahead of Moore?? WTF and why?

Just a quick question off topic, any1 know why Post was missing from the NAB cup? Was looking fwd 2 c him play in the apparent new role they have 4 him & just realised he wasnt there ha ha

I'm a Dons man and I'd be more than happy to have Newman, Connors and Lids in my back 6! (Not saying much as our back 6 is pretty average)

But still those 3 are out and out guns.

Bloody idiots and would love nothing more than you to come out and smash em!

I was expecting parochial exaggeration Freezer, but pretty much every word is true. In fact I think you undervalued Connors a bit.

Wonder if the poll was taken again now if Vickery could grab himself a forward spot or a bench spot.

I originally voted for him in the pocket, think I selected Riewoldt, Griffiths and Vickery as my tall forwards. Another game or two like that from TV and I'm sure the pesimists will be demanding he's included.

How quickly things can change (and change back, so keep it up Ty:thumbsu:).

How long is it going to take people to realise that at the moment we NEED Tuck in our side. He is a good player, who is actually still improving, he is continuing to peak at a late age. Clearance players like him are great to offset those duties from other more talented players in our midfield. That's why Melbourne is stupid for delisting McDonald.

Anyway, my 22:

FB McGuane Moore Thursfield(last chance this year)

HB Connors Newman Astbury

C Deledio Cotchin Jackson

HF Miller Morton Foley

F Vickery Riewoldt White

R Graham Tuck Martin

INT: Conca Houli Grigg (sub?) Derrickx

Fringe Players: Edwards, King (suspended?), Nahas, Contin, Taylor, Rance, Nason, Post, Farmer, Batchelor, Taylor.

Looks like we are actually developing some depth here, and all of our best players are young, which is something you could not say 3 years ago.

I would like to see Deledio go back into the middle. If it isn't working early then maybe go back to his 'Hodge' role, but I would really like to see him delivering to our forward line, he might not get tagged!

I'm going to give Miller a go first round, even though I don't rate him at all, but let's give him a chance first up and have him take a key defender. A lot of those fringe players I have mentioned could easily get a game in round 1 and will definately get chances during the year.

Just got told on the Carlton board the back 6 we chose is the worst back 6 in the league.....

Our back 6 is quite poor at the moment. But it has the capacity for improvement. Often the backline can be the product of the midfield, of which ours is going to get better.

St Kilda nearly won 2 premierships with some pretty ordinary defenders like Dawson, Blake, R. Clarke, Gwilt...because their midfield was so good defensively.
