So Goodes was BOG...what, with his 24 possessions at 50% efficiency, 11 uncontested marks and 0 contested marks, five clangers and 80% uncontested possessions.

Sure he runs hard, but that's it, his disposal (besides his last quarter goal) was rubbish, and he didn't actually battle for his own ball.

Maxwell was BOG for me. Absolute brick wall at half back. Leigh Brown also very, very good and Beams in the guts did his now usual job.

Shouldn't you all be use to it by now. Pies win, Goodes dominates. That seems to be the standard procedure when he play you guys.

Happens everytime, we seem to have no way to stop him. I'm glad we win everytime though cause I don't think I could handle one player dominating us every time we play and lose aswell.

To posters saying Goodes doesn't deserve votes rewatch the game, he may poll votes in games where he may not deserve them but this won't be one of those times. An even display by our side and Goodes being their best player will see him snag one or two - I wouldn't think he'd get the three but considering his vote polling history it wouldn't suprise me.

should have been listening to MMM, it's all i could get at the ground (no AM) and it was awful, steve quartermaine is atrocious, it was all goods and sydney for the first half then in the last quarter they all jumped on the bandwagon!

as said above, nothing worse than commentators just chatting and occasionally mentioning the footy (e.g. start of the third quarter, MMM didn't start calling the game for the first 40 seconds, in which time the swans already had a shot on goal!)
Steve Quartermain is a giant tool.

Awful commentator. I prey for another Dunstall-nasi goreng incident.

Triple M need to **** him off. If he would please just SHUTTUP if he's not prepared to call the game instead of whinging over every minor detail. I hate the man. He is annoying.

I was at the game as well so didn't get any of the commentary, but don't have a problem at all with Goodes being voted best on ground. He didn't dominate the ground, but as someone said, he was the only Swans player who looked likely to do anything. Two of the three goals he kicked were as clean and graceful as any goals you're likely to see. Rhyce was OK but kicks badly under pressure. Happy to have Maxwell as second best on ground.

Im warning you Pie eyed, dont watch on the couch tomorrow night. I guarentee you Healy will still think the swans can make the finals and will crap on about how bloody good they are for half the show. then he will go on about how the crows are the favourite for the flag and the pies are just making up numbers. Its going to tip you over the edge i recon.

LOL.
I bet Caro has her diaphragm on her head and her fingers in her ears, rocking back and fore going OMMMMM! Ommmmmm! OMMMM!

when Collingwood or Richmond are mentioned.

I'm sorry but I thought Goodes was solid at best, still Sydney's best. Having said that we didn't have any stand outs either so he would still be in the best 5 or so on the ground. The fact is he had a pretty loose run at it and aside from his goals didn't have much impact. He turned it over a fair bit, including 5 clangers, 50% disposal efficiency, only had 1 clearance, 5 contested possesions and 2 tackles. DE% is an overrated stat and stats don't show his ability to get out of trouble and win one on one contests before grabbing possesion but I thought he was only solid. Maxwell and Beams were clearly better than him and I think you can raffle it between the next best.

Goodes was definitely BOG for mine, some of the stuff he does is sensational. His kicking can be somewhat wayward at times but he is always trying to create something, trying to generate an attack. He was the most dangerous player on the ground and the only Sydney player that ever looked like penetrating our fantastic defence. Sure, the commentary was over the top at times, but Bruce has always been prone to a bit of carry on.

Strangely enough, I can't really think of a standout for us, we were very even all over the board. I can't really think of one player who was head and shoulders best on ground, by the same token I can't think of anyone who played poorly, save for Ben Johnson perhaps.

Beams was sensational, probably a chance for the three votes, I can't believe just how well he is playing for a first year player and is only getting better as the season progresses. Maxwell was also superb.

I have a germ of an idea for a new reality TV show.

"Hunt Down the Insidious Commentator"

Where a group of footy fans parachute into remote jungle shortly after the worst of the commentators are dropped in thee.
The aim is hunt them down and take them out.

Odds on Walls goes in the pot first. I'll be hunting down Bwuce, laying used articles of player underwear, Goodes, Rioli and Judd, for bait.

Then, as he is sniffing them deliriously, he will be mine.

Chop! Chop! STFU 4ever.:D

The thing is umpires dont look at stats before they put there votes in all they see is his fat boof head running around and have orgasms about how good he is and give him votes

Yeah, I thought they already did get rid of him once. Then lo and behold, he's back on Sundays this year. That McLachlan guy doesn't do much for me either, but Quartermain just hates us. He seriously sounds close to tears sometimes when we get a free kick. And how many times can you mention the Hawks in a Pies v Swans match?

He also said Cloke hasn't played a decent game for two months, despite calling the game a week ago against Richmond where Cloke had 21 possessions, 10 marks, 3 contested marks and 2 goals.

I always listen to MMM at the game, because I find it has the best reception for me, but the Saturday night and Sunday afternoon commentary teams are just dreadful. Do the main guys - Brayshaw, Taylor, Lyon etc. - call every final, or do they still divide it up?

I was at the game so i missed all this

I did get a message from the old man saying these commentators make him sick, first its all Sydney is wonderful now we are a flag favorite

I think a collingwood premiership might kill lane, walls, and quarters

Like most on this forum, I don't have much time for Quarters. I do agree with his comment on Cloke. I wouldn't have said "Decent" though, he has had a few decent games but no where near his best. Don't look at the stat's I was at the Rich game and they kept putting up the dream team points and he was up there. I didn't think he had much impact.

Those 10 marks were probably all within 5 metres of the boundary line. He needs to take marks at true centre half forward if his going to be potent forward.

If the roles were reversed and Swan played like Goodes the story would be how 'ineffective' he is or how he's not 'dangerous' enough. BOG my arse, only player to turn up for a team made to look ordinary more like it.

Goodes was NOWHERE NEAR BOG.

His team lost by 7 goals for god's sake, and in the second half, I saw him do nothing but turn the ball over repeatedley.

He was obviously SYDNEY'S best, but FAR from the best on ground.

I'd give best on ground to Jack Anthony, followed by Beames. Jack was the most influential player on the ground easily.

lol, goodes was not BOG, 24 touches at 50% efficiency and 5 clangers, people just love the bloke a la judd, they touch the ball and its JIMP!
on top of that, 5 contested possies compared to beams 10
one clearance to goodes and 6 to beams

just cos he can get it and run with it doesn't mean he's the best player, he stands out yes but that doesn't mean he was the best

my final argument, Robert Walls gave Goodes the 3 votes, and he is a MORON, so if you think Goodes was BOG you are in the same boat as that w***er
I agree 100% especially on the Goodes clangers, I didn't hear the commentary because I was at the game (best thing about going is not having to listen to stupid comentary teams). One of Goodes turn overs early in the last quarter went the whole length from the Swans fwd pocket to our goal square, and they rave he was best on ground?? He coughed it under percieved pressure so news flash commentators, if he ripped the game apart so well why did they lose by 7 goals!!? BTW he doesn't tackle and as you said was 50% effective with his disposals, so half his posession was useless!

And yes 5 unconteseted posessions is nothing to write home about and he laid a pathetic 2 tackles so if that is a team best effort then no wonder the Swans lost by 7 goals. A b grade performance when looked at in the cold light of day, especially given 50% effective diposal rate which was only bettered (worsted??) by one other Swans player (Couch at 42%). As the second worst user of the footy in the Swans team and the highest possession winner it just shows how much damage giving the ball to a player who slaughters it can do. Watch him get Brownlow votes .

I'm normally a Goodes supporter but I don't think he deserves BOG on a team that got well and truly beaten. Beams may be a chance, but personally Anthony and Maxwell stood out for me.

However, I don't think 1 vote would be entirely unreasonable - from memory, 3 or 4 of those clangers came in a row in the last few minutes with the game done and dusted, so that didn't detract from his performance for me. Also, some of the uncontested marks he got were more about being able to run hard and separate from Presti in the first half, rather than just cheap possessions.

I was listening MMM driving back from Mornington and it took MMM 5 minutes to tell me the score and the time. They kept getting who was in front wrong who was playing who they were too busy playing with each other if I wanted to listen to that i would turn to 3aw. Unless BT & JB are comentating MMM is a waste of time.

Why cant they just call the game. The football is the most important stuff not the BS that all the comentators throw in.

Even the guys doing the Pies v Frankston on saturday started talking "in jokes". Give me a break. JUST CALL THE BLOODY FOOTBALL. TELL ME WHO HAS IT
WHO IS CHASING
Where the ball is
WHAT THE SCORE IS AT
WHAT QUARTER IT IS.
Is there a wind advantage.
I do not want to know about the QUADDIE that they have missed or even the nick names they want to call the players.

But MMM on a sunday only under extreme suffering Its the hawthorn show and has been for a few years
