Nah, that's one good rule across all forms of cricket, don't be bowling beamers.

They aren't bowling beamers cos they screw up a 150 km/h yorker though, and they certainly aren't doing it deliberately. They're doing it attempting a change of pace, which is one of the few weapons a bowler has in T20.

I wouldn't mind giving the umps a bit of discretion here. The intent of the rule is to stop dangerous bowling - so it'd be a pretty easy rule change if a bowler is taken out of the attack for 2 "dangerous" deliveries, rather than just 2 full tosses above waist height.

It's not a big bug bear I guess, it doesn't happen that often. And I'm only proposing that you'd change it for T20 games, where at most it's only affecting 4 overs.

Discretion leads to grey areas. The rule is perfect as is. Don’t be a gimp who bowls 2 beamers and you’ll be fine.
 
If he held his ground the umpire would have given it not out. No way the camera shows Short touching the ball.
