Scorchers likely best XI
(bracketed players should be available a few games into the season)

Bancroft
Hobson (Inglis)
Munro
Patterson (M.Marsh)
Turner
Evans
Hardie
Hatzoglou (Agar)
Tye
Kelly (Mills)
Behrendorf
I reckon 'Dorff will get injured at some point and Mills will take his spot over Kelly.

I'm pretty sure Inglis, Marsh and Agar did their quarantine in QLD.

Indians doctoring a spinners wicket then picking 3 spinners. Sure Patel took all 10 for New Zealand but then India picks 3 spinners who take 7 wickets whilst new zealand are all out for 62.

Not like the Indian Cricket Board at all. The only sporting body more corrupt than FIFA.

NZ picked 3 spinners too. The other two apart from Patel haven’t been able to get anything out of the pitch though.

Siraj destroyed NZ’s top order initially and the spinners just finished them off after they were demoralised

India did it with the pink ball test last year vs England.

They made the pitch useless for pace/swing bowlers and only picked 1 pace bowler .

Joe root ended up opening the bowling for England in the 2nd innings .

Yet India are allowed to refuse to play both gabba and WA test in the same series .

Corruption

Look when you've got groundsmen selectively watering a pitch to give Ashwin a target, the only way is up.

Why would you not enforce the follow-on? Is Ricky Ponting captaining India?
I wouldn’t have enforced it. Need to get runs into Pujara, Kohli etc and may as well grind them into the dirt/play it safe with how much time is left in the match.

Pitch will only get worse too.

It was very satisfying when - on neutral ground that India could not doctor - they lost the inaugural world Test championship to NZ.

Getting a result inside 3 days might please the Indian fans, but it ain't a good look for Test cricket. Even when we had Shane Warne in his prime, we didn't turn every pitch in Australia to a dustbowl.

Which is why even discounting the chucking of Murali I will always rate Warne as the greatest spinner of all time. Our fast bowling stocks were so ridiculously strong that Brett Lee couldn't get a spot in the test side for half his career yet he would have been the marquee bowler for half the world's test teams.

I never thought of him as a chucker. As far as I'm concerned, when he was assessed by the biometric experts at UWA that should have been the end of it.

However, I definitely can judge him and Sri Lanka for curating every pitch there to suit Murali.

It’s a shame that Rashid Khan won’t end up playing as many Tests as his talents deserve. I suspect that if he was given 100+ Tests, he’d enter the Warne/Murali discussion for greatest ever spinners. Just a fantastic cricketer.

India could have gone either way really. I think ever since Australia enforced the follow on against India 20 years ago in that test match in Kolkata and lost, teams have been conservative when it comes to enforcing the follow-on.

Realistically, there's a ton of time left in the game. India could bat for a day and set New Zealand 600+ runs to win and still have two days (180 overs) to bowl them out and tere was only one bowler who was threatening and that was Patel who took all 10 wickets in the innings, a phenomenal effort. Batting again also gives their bowling attack a rest even though they didn't spend much time in the field anyway considering New Zealand only faced 28.1 overs.

Unless there's a generous declaration, a miracle or inclement weather, only one team can win from here.

The ridiculous part is India have a pool of supremely talented players at their disposal. They can and should win all over the world in all conditions.

I kinda feel like they are wasting an opportunity to cement themselves as a respected powerhouse with the nonsense they get up to with their home pitches. Smacks of ingrained little brother status, particularly when you combine it with incessant whinging about other countries on the touring front.

Australia XI: Marcus Harris, David Warner, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey (wk), Pat Cummins (c), Mitch Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.

Starc lucky to keep his spot.

Runs on the board etc. Wonder if that helps Scorchers
