Big Day Out 09

The BDo needs to land several big names for once. I understand that there is always always quality bands that go, but in comparioson to late 90's early 00's the string of big name bands just hasnt been happening. I think when the White Stripes headlined, that was a really poor line up. Ditto with last year (except for Rage). I know people will disagree, but thats just my opinion. Anyway, heres my ultimate line-up (considering bands that have new albums coming out, or recent albums out too)

AC/DC - Metallica double headline - could you imagine! ha ha
Motley Crue - ha ha
Slipknot
The Offspring
Disturbed
Gyroscope
Placebo
Cog

Imagine that! Thats a line up of my dreams. Would never happen

Awesome line up, would be massive :thumbsu:

Brian Jonestown Massacre would be interesting.

Of the first rumour mentioned the ones that would be awesome are:
The Verve
Kings of Leon
Neil Young
Radiohead
Oasis

very, very happy if any of them come

Ok

Better to say Neil Young will headline this years Big Day out

Confirmation ( to the public) can really only be after the promoters announce it ( but trust me its confirmed) Kaiser Chiefs will also play

Can't see Oasis or The Verve playing the BDO. The Verve have never toured Australia, i can't see that changing to be honest.

Oasis will almost certainly tour Australia sometime in the next 12 - 18 months but they will hold their own shows, there is no way they will travel with a festival with mediocre bands, especially the Kasier Chiefts, ****ing hell, Noel Gallagher would rather sing Robbie Williams songs then do that.

Oasis will hold their own shows, the BDO really isn't there thing.

Sorta agree. Would rather see both Oasis and The Verve at there own shows anyway.

I do think The Verve will tour though. First time for everything!

I never thought id see Weller in Aus but he came out for the first time in over 20 years. So who knows.

Kaiser Chiefs, Coldplay, Oasis and Kings Of Leon would be cool. Didn't go this year as apart from Gyro, Grinspoon, British India and Blue King Brown there wasn't much that interested me. 07 and 06 were immense though.

And another rumour was Metallica, but this won't happen, they've already booked a North American tour for Jan/Feb anyway.

Sweet, Ill be in North America then :thumbsu:

thank god metallica arent going to be there...they should've given it up ages ago. i really hope they stop after this album, its never ending.

Please not Neil Young. Would be great if Nine Inch Nails plays but I would prefer it if they did their own tour. Reznor's latest lineup is great from the bootlegs I've listened to. Awesome to have Finck back where he belongs.

LOL @ Neil Young... What a waste

Don't underestimate this man. He may look old and be an eccentric, his sound may not have changed too much over the years but one thing is certain, when he plugs in he defies his age and performs with gusto. I think alot of people will be suprised and will leave with their ears ringing from his unique and original guitar shredding. He ain't no oldies act and ain't affraid to showcase his recent material, unlike many veteran rock stars.

I'd doubt i'll be going to this BDO if the rumours are true, Neil Young doesn't interest me and I saw NIN on their last tour, great show though. Real shame the early Faith no More reformation rumours aren't true, one can only hope!

My mate who works for a prominant music mag, has been saying for a while now that Weezer will be playing the V festival not the Big Day Out.
