Let's face it, the one team Mal has always struggled with is the dogs because they don't know what a KPP is up forward.

So could big Mal be moved forward as a shock tactic to provide a strong player to contest up forward?

Just a thought.

Good, lets hope it stays that way. I would hate to see Mal up forward. If there is really no match up for him, he shouldnt play IMO. We need options up forward and he isnt one.

Is Neagle injured? I can't figure out why a tall forward wasn't brought in to replace Lloyd. If its one area that the Bulldogs struggle with its talls. They have Minson, Hahn, Hudson and Lake... who else?

Maybe Fletcher will play full-forward? Other than that, poor selection decision- again. They've refused to bring in a tall to replace Lucas and now we're missing 2 talls.

Hargrave and Wight. Also Morris who is only 190cm but plays above his height often. All of them could be a match up on Neagle (ignoring all other logistics).

He played forward a fair bit for us in his last year. Took a few hangers but wasn't anything more than a big body down there.

Big bodies are what we need. We can't match the strength of the likes of Geelong and our runners are soft and turn the ball over. The other clubs will fear our big bodies.....

With Lloyd out, I wouldn't mind seeing Big Mal or even Fletch to go up forward for us. And there-for letting McPhee or Nash go into the backline.

I know Mal doesn't have the greatest Mark on earth but he can at least take a good chest mark under pressure, and every one knows that if you bang the ball high and towards Mal, he'll win it 9/10 times, either with a punch or in this case I guess he could take the mark.

And who should they have brought into replace Lucas, I mean Gumbleton, Neagle and Daniher were all injured.

Neagle is playing for Bendigo this week because he hasn't had the match fitness to play an entire pre-season or VFL match this year, and clearly isn't fit enough to play a full AFL match just yet.

Daniher is one week back from a serious shoulder injury and Gumbleton is still injured.

The only likely replacement we've had for either Lloyd or Lucas, is Johns.

Mal could playas a defensive key forward. We kick it to him in a contested situation, the defender would'nt try to outmark but he would try and punch it away. If big Mal punched the ball first, in the general direction of a Bombers player, they could pick up the crumbs and kick some goals.

??Nash starts in the backline

Do not mind a short side to play the doggies at all, they won't want to drop Harris/Lake so we might have flipped the bitch on them if he doesn't have a match up

Wight towelled up Kosi last week.
Hargrave is a McPhee type.
Morris is a quality stopper and beat Riewoldt last time.

There's more hype than substance with Kosi IMO.

How often did the ball go into WB's defensive 50 in the last 3 quarters though let's be honest?

Also, you're basing their ability on 1 game. Morris is ok I guess but the other 2 really are crap. WB are not the real deal, no doubt about that! It'll still be tough for Essendon because we have limited defensive skills or at least don't use them- Gary O'donnell is stealing a living!

I sort of agree. Lake and Morris, yes and after that it is pretty thin.

I'm not basing it on one game. I was using it as an example.

Wight is a lot better player than you give him credit for. He's only just developing and looks to have really come on this season.

If anything, Lake is the worse player out of Hargrave, Morris and Wight these days.

We will get smashed tonight no doubt about that. Not only are we missing Lloyd and Lucas, we lost another runner in Jetta and we are playing our 3rd match in a row off a six day break.

When we do get beaten tonight - try not to be your usual over critical self. The boys aren't robots.

I know you are being realistic, but.....

Sorry Andy Maher, didn't know I'd offended you. I also apologise that I feel that those WB players you mentioned aren't footballers but more so athletes. These guys you think are quality from the Bulldogs are nothing more than running players they call "the modern day footballer". What a load of crap! Their defensive skills are nothing short of shithouse, sounds to me like you get too caught up with the commentators glorifying them.

If you think we'll lose because we're without Lloyd and Lucas then you can go join all those other muppets who think Essendon are crap without their 30+ year olds!

As for the Essendon players not being robots, well that they are not, on the same token they are professionals and are paid accordingly, therefore with the modern facilities, recovery sessions, massages (without the happy ending :() I would expect the same quality of running and/or game play. It's not as if we played in the wet last Saturday night. It seems to me you're as soft on the players as the game is getting, TOUGHEN UP!
