I thought I might pass on some news (SEN has been playing it all night) about big Sav.

He was named the NFC Special Teams Player of the month and is only the second Eagle ever to win the award.

I get to watch him fairly regularly over here and he seems to be getting off to a great start to his career and is currently sitting 3rd for the punters in the NFL.

Thanks for that, mwalker - very interesting. I see he's 35. How long can you keep playing for in that caper? I also note that his hometown is "Lakeside" - presumably Edward's Lake in Reservoir?

i love the guy. to pieces. i cried when he retired and was being interviewed along anthony...

he was my favourite when i first started following the pies. imagine how much it killed me when he was traded to the bloody roos i never got out of that. sav rocca should have been a pie for life..

i still need to buy an eagles guernsey with rocca's name and number

Many kickers play into their 40s if they can keep it up - There many punters over 40 in the NFL at the moment.

Yeh like Godfrey when I was a kid big Sav was my idol. I actually played all my juniour footy in 36 for that reason. Good to see the big fella doing well over seas in his new profession

Absolutely loved sav.

Was so sad when he left. His massive goals that went like tracer bullets, they went up to goal post height and then never came down for 70m.

Very happy he is doing well for himself overseas, ended his carreer at North but is and always will be a Collingwood man

In yet another example of how dreadful we were at drafting and trading back then, we didn't actually trade him. We delisted him, and North proceeded to use a 2nd round selection (pick 30) on him.

He is a great chance (atm) to be selected for the Pro Bowl. I think he will really hit is straps this year.

When I watched him in his first 4 or 5 games he was ok but not very consistent. But this year he has been really solid. We all know he has a great big kick, but he is really consistent to date this year.

He will play for another 5 years atleast if he can remain consistent.
