Pearl Berg 114 Super Centenarian

Pearl Berg is one of two super-centenarians to die in recent days, the other being Catherina Van Der Linden of South Australia, who died in Adelaide at age 111.

Catherina Van Der Linden was born in August 1912, meaning her mother was pregnant with her when the Titanic sank. Pearl Berg was born in 1909, the year before Halley's Comet made the first of two visits to Earth in the 20th century, when King Edward VII was King of England and Theodore Roosevelt handed over the US Presidency to Howard Taft. There was no commercial radio at the time of her birth, and she would have started primary school the same year of the Gallipoli ANZAC landings.

Pearl Berg's death leaves just 9 known living people verified to have been born prior to 1910; 8 women and 1 man.
