Disgraceful performance in poor season. Not really seeing allot right now to get excited about other than Ericksen. Clearly we were never going to replace the likes of Modric or Bale, but who would have expected the attempt would fall so short.

Agreed, no more lost sleep for me watching this shite

Didn't see the game, but the result speaks for itself. Season was over already anyway, at least it means we might miss the Europa League.

Yeah, right, playing bad football means we can't replace players. That makes sense...

Sherwood rumoured to have punched one of Dawson, Rose or Soldado. Soldado has taken to instagram to deny rumours. Kind of hope its true and we get this sacking over and done with. He isn't up to being a manager of a top half club in the premier league!

We'll be very lucky to be top half come the end of the season.

Annihilated by every top 5 team. So embarrassing.

We have conceded first attack goals in 4 games against the top 5 sides this season which gives us next to no chance. Will be surprised if we dont hold on to 6th with our run to the end of the season being against bottom half clubs

Selling best players and failing to replace them on any level isnt connected to a drop in form? Are you joking? Are all your posts combative and segues to preaching your beliefs?

Poor football certainly played a role in the loss and this season, the bigger problem is we simply havent replaced the attacking talent sold. A very difficult thing to do considering our salary issues, however Id at least liked to have seen some young players who one day could step up purchased with the money. At this stage the 100 million would have been better plowed into the stadium than on who we bought.

Except that isn't what you said. You said "Clearly we were never going to replace the likes of Modric or Bale", and only now I just realized I misread the 'were' as an 'are'. Oops, sorry, my bad.

We have replaced Bale; Eriksen is filling his role pretty damn well and I'm confident Lamela will too, provided we employ a manager who isn't stupid enough to keep him out of the squad for Aaron Lennon. Just because they're not the exact same type of player as Bale, scoring thunderbolts on a consistent basis and all, doesn't mean they're not replacements.

I do however agree we haven't replaced Modric and that's something we desperately need. We've stocked up on plenty of attacking midfielders, box-to-box midfielders & defensive midfielders, but none of them can play the deep playmaker role that controls the game. I don't think any of the players we bought were bad or not worth the money, but I do believe we should've targeted someone different to say, Paulinho.

There's literally no problem in regards to spending the Bale money in one window. The manager isn't forced to squeeze all the new signings into the team at once, the idea is to analyze the squad you have at your disposal and pick what you consider to be the best starting 11; and that's something Villas-Boas failed at.

Seems we get more "supporters" in here sinking the boot when we lose, rather than after a victory. Hopefully we can sow up that Europa Cup spot. I still believe we should of had more of an assault on winning it this year, don't think EPL teams respect the comp near enough. Its not CL but not many teams get to play in quality European competitions.

Furthermore Eriksen is looking like the find of the season.

Think we did have a real crack at the EL but we shot ourselves in the foot against Benfica at home in the midst of Sherwood's meltdown few weeks. And if it wasn't for a few saves and a non penalty call we would have taken that 2nd leg to extra time. 5 games to go and really we should be aiming for 13-15 points. It won't be enough for top 4 but the way Arsenal are going we could end up taking 5th spot off them. In typical Spurs luck Everton will get Arsenal's spot in the top 4 and with that take our prime target Lukaku!

Typical soap opera back room stuff from our club regarding the reports that Sherwood will be replaced. We've all known its the case so why was there a leak of the news on game day. Same thing happened with Jol and it really doesn't achieve anything at all. VG is all but a done deal apparently just let the lads play out the season and attack as many points as possible and then bring him in after the world cup. He is by far and away the best candidate and will work with the signings we made last year

Well there's nothing to gain from winning, so it's kind of hard to get excited.

I'm dead set against scoring a Europa Spot this season, it's brought nothing but trouble and I don't like the Sunday slot personally.

The thursday-sunday combo of games is a nightmare and the stats have backed this up under both AVB and 'Arry who had opposite takes on the comp!

A lot of money and a lot of co-efficient points.

One of the most successful UEFA Cup teams is Atletico Madrid. Doesn't seem to have hurt them much.

What a comically bad season it's been. Next season can't come soon enough.

The Europa League didn't make them a high quality team, having an unbelievably good manager who set up a great culture did. The benefit of better co-efficients are outweighed by playing less games.

Is it going to be business as usual? Buy quick fixes, fire managers, believe Europa is beneath us and then look forward to the season after?

Surely finishing on a high, showing the fans that there is something to look forward to and making Europa (which is potentially where we deserve to be) is something better to hope for.
