Josh actually said he thought he was "hopefully" going to play more midfield this year in a news grab last night

How can that go wrong?

Can a player get negative CBA's? If they can and you can bet on it for round 1 then I am going to be a millionaire.

Edit - just saw the clip. Interesting to hear he isn't going to stop celebrations after kicking goals. Be very interesting if he gets suspended for it again early in the season.

Why does he need to be in CB ??

At risk of starting up something again, he's of more value to us as a forward to rolls up the ground to stoppages.

With the 6-6-6 rule - CB's are the most crucial stoppages in AFL.

As a good midfielder - thats where you can do the most damage and want to be.

And after attending the 3rd most CB in the first 6th rounds of 2023 to having the 13th most CB's for the last 9 rounds of 2024 - its quite the fall from grace. Especially for a guy who (at least within the last 24 hours) is "hopeful" of more midfield minutes.

Not saying he needs to be full time.

The more Rachele is around the football the better. I would be fine if that used more around the clearances, but I am struggling to see that happening especially with ANB being brought in.

Latter point is quite possible, I mean ANB is a very handy player.

The way I see it, I think youve got Crouch, Rankine and Dawson who are immediately ahead and (likely) our starting 3. Youve then got Peatling, Keays, ANB, and Curtin (IMO) ahead of Rachele, the latter just. I like Taylor as well, but looks like we wont see him in R1.

Its a good position to be in IMO

Edit - how could I forget Soligo !!!

Imagine them doing that.

The negative media around it would be overwhelming. It was bad enough the first time.

No way will they let that happen, I reckon Rash should push the boundary here, they won't act on it unless he goes over the line and flips off the crowd or something.

Wouldn't shock me if he did.

This time last year the Adelaide Media, the club, the fans and even Josh Rachele thought he would play in the midfield.
No chance that Curtin starts in defence - 0

There was always a chance Rachele wouldn’t play midfield with Rankine going in there and Soligo having a huge pre season

He's fairly tall, great kick, scores goals. There's a way in for him if he's able to get involved more.
Unfortunately we play him in football Siberia on the HFF and he's not able to accumulate much on his own.
He’s been played on the wing plenty before forward

When you don’t nail a position you tend to get moved around and dropped

He’s more mature now and it’s up to him , talent only gets you so far

I remember saying last preseason that I liked the look of Cook but still not sure what position he'd be best playing, 12 months on and I feel exactly the same. This season is his last chance for sure, if he can't nail down a spot where he can contribute consistently during a game then he is gone.

Was wondering if you've noticed any physical development in Taylor or Cook. These are two blokes with a lot of talent but always look skinny and underdeveloped.

Also just in general, have you noticed anyone coming back that look like they've put on size?

Can definitely see it in Taylor

Be interested in the guru’s thoughts

Pretty sure he’s said cooks put on size, or someone else did at least.

The Milera, Worrell, Smith, Nank debate is a good one.

I know a lot of people having Cumming around the middle but he is an excellent kick and was used (when not injured) to take Kick-Ins at GWS.

How do others feel about seeing him float back at times to take it? You're not having Keane, Murray, or Butts ever take a kick in are you? Not Laird either. It HAS to be one of those other guys like Hinge.. or Cumming.

What do others think?

I'd actually be more than happy for him to spend most of his time on ground in the forward line as rankine is destined for far more midfield time so we still need 1 creative genious small forward to compliment ANB and keays up there

She was lovely .. massive crows fan though didn't share my enthusiasm for his future :D

Don’t be facetious, he isn’t going to get suspended for doing a soccer celebration

(Obviously he shouldn’t have been suspended/dropped after the Port game, though)
