if fit will be a walk in start you would think

Would be too dangerous to throw him straight back in to the finals. Would have to play at minimum a game in the SANFL and play well to prove he can come straight back in.

Don't know about that!

He is not a natural footballer so he takes some time to get his match fitness so based on that I reckon he is an outside chance to come in.

However, if he is in the same sort of form and match fittness he was in when he injured the knee, I agree he would walk into the side as the #1 ruckman.

I'll give him 2 games in the SANFL at best, the Crows will want him back. Natural footballer or not he has this season been outr best ruck and no offence to Sellar would be giving a bit more than him.

Anyway. As good as his form was, it only really lasted a few rounds. All of our ruckmen (bar perhaps Sellar) have shown similar form at one stage or another of their AFL careers. There's no guarantee that he'll be able to produce it again straight away - in fact, I'd say there's little chance of it. If he blitzes the SANFL on return he might get a call up, but I'd say even Griffin would be ahead of him. He'd have to be very lucky to get a game. He's not Dean Cox - we wouldn't bring him straight back into the side after such a long break.

Thats the thing, I dont think he can afford 2 games. He won't be back this week and possibly unlikely next week. That means by the time he has his 2 games in the SANFL, its most likely season over for us.

:D

bloody hell Stiffy be a bit more positive. If he plays this week for Westies he will be playing for the Crows against Carlton... unless of course Griffin decides he wants to play for the crows this season.

I am realistic, the best we can hope for is a PF this year. Thats the absolute best.

As I said, I don't think he will play this week for the Westies and is unlikely to play next week either.

Which means that he will likely be ready to play first week of the finals, give him 2 games in the SANFL and at best he is in for the PF week.

This is great news IMO. I thought he was steadily improving before he was injured. A couple of games in the SANFL and he has a chance to push for selection for the finals. Finals or not, if Craigy thinks he has done enough I believe he will be brought in.

So if he came back in for the first week of the finals who would he be replacing? Maric or Sellar?

This comment he made would have caught the eattention of his early detractors.

"I was a bit of a guinea pig, but I’m an aggressive person by nature. I was desperate to get back, so when the surgeon offered the procedure to me I said: ‘yes, give me the quickest option’."

It remains to be seen whether he can get back in (prob depends how far we go in finals) but kudos to him for giving it a red hot crack. Would have been easy to look at the time remaining for the season and put the cue in the rack and wait for the pre-season. I am sure the coach and players would be impressed by his attitude and effort in rehab.
