Blicavs is the first player in the afl this year done for staging. Its a dog act if true.

My initial take is that he was definately hit although the hit was accidental. Its not like he got up straight away. He was holding his jaw for a while after the ump had already made his call. Has Christian got this horribly wrong and if so why arent we all angry about this? Stager is a horrible brush to be labelled. Only one level better then sniper.

Is Blicavs a stager or not?

Bit strong to call it a dog act, and maybe there was some mitigating factor - but the outcome was fair.
considering the source of the dog act call its hardly unsurprising in the over reaction stakes.

That said, I thought at the time he got hit - there was accidental contact and he went down.
Its not a good look and ive seen some ordinary frees paid this year as players have gone down over less than physical contact.

But as you say... its not a dog act.

and I dare say this thread wont have a long existence.

He staged big time.

You'll often see players resorting to an attempt to deceive the umpire to gain an unfair advantage, which to me is a form of cheating.

His attempt was one of the more pathetic acts in recent times. He rightfully copped a whack, but I also hope he's severely embarrassed and ashamed.

He, and the rest of them, need to focus on winning through skill, not deception.

Interesting how Blitz got fined, but the Melbourne player who conned the umpire into giving a free kick for high contact against Carlisle wasn't. Maybe Christian thought playing for Melbourne was enough of a punishment.

Yeah I wondered that too. As you said the Melbourne guy actually got a free

Too late. Mud sticks. Even if irrefutable evidence is produced showing contact with the face/jaw on BF Blicavs will be remembered as a stager. Doesn’t worry me. It happened to Jimmy Bartel

Of course it was staging. I recon he was trying to waste time, IIRC there wasn't much left of the quarter and he probably wanted to chew up some seconds.

Did the stage and was to far through it when he realised how shit it was so had to commit.

The fine is fair.
