Rockcliff is a seagull, just accumulates loose chips(touches) around the ground.

Gibbs would be main target with rocky a distant second.

Rockcliff a seagull? This year he averages 28+ possessions a game (ranked 19th) and ranked 13th in the league for contested possessions per game (13.1)

Impressive numbers for a seagull

Preuss keeps getting mentioned, presumably because he can't get a game in front of Goldy. He'll also behind Kreuz, so why would we be more appealing?

It is not that he is more appealing then Krooz. If Casboult left, Pruess could be that forward/ruck option. Pruess is also younger than MK, so it would be a nice transition as well as a current back up if he suffers an injury.

We have Phillips, then nothing else, if MK goes down

He's asking why would we be more appealing to pruess than north. He'd only leave due to lack of game time if he was going to get more game time and he'd still be behind Kreuz. Is he a forward/ ruck option or could he be like kreuze or Hampson could have been? I haven't seen much of him so don't know.

Not a fan of Sicily, but that is not true. Has been "swinging" for a couple of seasons now, on and off.
Pretty sure Clarkson trying to educate and make more accountable.
Maybe Bolton could try that with our forwards.

Hardwick stated in his press conference that our forwards won them the game - 8 out of their 11 goals came from turnovers in our forward 50.

It would be based around a couple scenarios

  • If Goldstein was moved on and North did not trade for an established ruckman, Preuss would be considered the number one ruckman and would stay
  • If Goldstein remained, Preuss would find it difficult to make the side, with Brown being played as a forward/ruck.
  • If we lost Casboult and or MK, Preuss would slot straight into our side.
He is more of a ruckman than a forward, but he would still be dangerous up forward. Has a nice mix of aggression too. Given his age, 22, he would also fit the age profile for our rebuild

Would you believe the official line or...

Love me a bit of Police Squad

I'd certainly ask the question and make an offer, if only to drive the price up. If he comes to us, bonus. I reckon he has pulled his head in a bit knowing no one wanted him last trade period and I think Bolton could keep him in check.

Maybe but the parallel with Fev/Voss/Brown is clear

Not a plodder, just ineffectual in a Tom Mitchell kind of way.

Gets plenty of it, doesn't impact games like he should.

We must have differing opinions, I really rate Mitchell, his job is a distributor. I also rate rocky Football wise. All the character stuff is fir sos and co to sort.

The fact Rockliff has been in a crap side for years should also be taken in to account.

Shhh...dont let the truth get in the way of a good pot shot.

No doubt a bit of a dickhead. But he is an effing gun.

Stats aren't everything but when you're top 20 in the league for Kicks, Contested Possessions, Tackles, Inside 50's and number 1 in the league for Clearances (all based on averages) then there really isn't an argument.

Considering that Sicily plays in defence as well as attack, that doesn't surprise me.

He doesn't really though. He's only just started to this season and only for 2 or 3 games so far, with most of those being 50/50 fwd & back. I think the weekend was the first time he actually played a full game in the backline. Anyway. it wouldn't have made a massive difference on his career stats yet.
Yup, some minutes in round 6, 12 and a full game last week.

It's currently a battle between him and Sheehan for the least agile player under 190 in the competition. His read of the play is barely keeping his head above water in the AFL.

Footy is a funny thing. One trade period Rockliff isnt worth a packet of chips, now he is the answer to everyones woes....
Off-field.

From all reports Rockliff has pulled his head in big time this season. Apparently he was absolutely gutted that nobody else wanted him as he should have been. Brisbane had him firmly on the trade table and almost didn't care what they got for him and nobody bit.

His performance on the ground has never been questioned but his attitude from it has been notoriously Fev-like. With him keeping himself accountable it's had a flow on effect on his on ground performance (naturally).

It doesn't mean that I would want him at Carlton as much as I believe people are capable of changing. He's still a relatively significant risk. More so than a Whitfield whose immaturity can be pinpointed to being a young player with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Rockliff, on the other hand, has taken until he was 27 to pull his head in and is therefore more likely, in my opinion, to revert to past behaviors. Even Fev, for the most part, was able to keep himself in check in his first (only) season for the Lions before another massive meltdown.

5 clubs lining up for Trent Mckenzie. Why aren't we one of them? 'The Canon' would be a good replacement for Simmo down the the track.

FB: Byrne - Weitering - Plowman
HB: Docherty - Marchbank - Williamson

Macreadie, Pickett, (Liam Jones), (Alex Silvagni)

We're set with defenders of McKenzie's type.

If we're to put money into a veteran defender then you'd have to think that it would be a lockdown small defender. This is something that McKenzie isn't.

McKenzie would be great if we didn't have all of Weitering, Plowman, Marchbank and Macreadie and if he wasn't so injury prone. Unfortunately, his legs are made of glass. He hurt his calf in an intraclub match earlier in the year, returned only to injure his hamstring. He returned at the end of May and injured his leg again. Last year he missed games to ankle and quad issues.

In conclusion, it's too big of an investment for a role that we have covered.

As an aside, I wonder how inept the Gold Coast Suns medical staff are. We've had our history with poorly diagnosed injuries but it seems like the Suns have an unending list of leg injuries. Obviously, I'm not counting freak injuries like Barlow's as no amount of medical science and knowledge can prevent them.
