Hannerbury is obviously quality, but his body has looked cooked for 2 years now, we'd probably be able to get him cheaply if the Swans want to get rid of his massive contract (2 years 800-900k the Herald Sun was saying yesterday). Do not want another Daisy situation.

Not a dead cat bounce for North, just an unbelievable run with injuries. Something like 26 players used through the first half of the year.

We also went through 26 players in the first half of the year....

Oh sorry. You said 26 players used, not injured. My mistake, carry on.

An interesting last few pages of reading. A contracted Dylan Shiel, a contracted Mitch McGovern and a contracted Daniel Hannebery all coming to Carlton?????. Will be interesting to see how SOS pays for all this if true. Pick 1 has to be on the table I would suggest.

If pick1 were to some how snaffle Sheil, Hannebery and M.Govern well then I'd let it go.

Contracted for 3 years until end of 2021 and I doubt he is on that much money.

Damian Barrett is also reporting on a serious salary cap squeeze at GWS and that Shiel's name keeps popping up. Out of contract at the end of next year, known Carlton connection and a team like us that has the assets to get it done. I'm fully expecting GWS to move him on.
Shiel's form has fallen away the past couple months so may be something on his mind and not all injury related.

I have a friend who knows someone within the Hawthorn FC who reckons Sam Mitchell to the Blues is a done deal.

I have no idea if this is reliable or not (probably not) but I'll run with it.
Good relationship with Bolton and assistant coaching upgrades is an area we need to address.

ADELAIDE assistant coach Ben Hart is exploring his options at rival clubs while development coach Ryan O'Keefe is also out of contract at the end of season.

Hart and O'Keefe are among 13 names on the AFL Coaches' Association's list of assistant coaches who are unsigned for next year and looking at other opportunities.

Has anyone seen that list?

I think Hanners would be more a salary dump by the swans so wouldnt cost much. But the leadership he could provide our young mids would be worth it. Maybe involved in a trade of our 2nds for their first.
Pick 19 (PP) + 2 x 2nds for Pick 8 (Swans 1st), Lloyd and Hannebery (Salary dump)

Then pick 1 to Adelaide for Pick 7, Pick 13 and McGovern.
Pick 8 (Swans 1st) to GWS for Shiel.

Result:
Out: Pick 1 + Pick 19 (PP) + 2 x 2nd rounders
In: Shiel, Lloyd, Hannebery + Pick 7 + Pick 13

I can dream but thats SOS magic right there

I really hope we don't get McLovin. Expensive and we already have a ripper power forward (or 2?) in the making. I would've thought mids and goal sneaks and perhaps a running defender would've been the priority.
Totally agree, we don't need McCfly

Please excuse my ignorance, but is this an actual rumour? I know some here have been calling for Barker's head, based on a perception that he's not performing, but I've not seen anything rumoured to suggest that it's a real possibility.

Rumour coming from Tencentpiece who seems to have good mail of late.

Well he wants to be in melb and would know bolts from his time at hawthorn...plus Cam Bruce.

Is a newbie in terms of coaching, so joining a young team from the beginning and being part of the rise could appeal...we may also give him more responsibility.
And $$. Has the increase in footy department already occured or is it on going? $1.5mil is a fair bit of coin.

And this all managed to happen during the decline of the 3 major powerhouse clubs of the past decade (geelong, hawthorn and sydney) with no serious successors. Imagine Richmond competing against those clubs 3-5 years ago, wouldn't even be in the convo.

It certainly opened up the Comp when the Hawks fell short in 2016. The last 2 years the flag race has been wide open, this year the Tigers are clearly the ones to stop. Hope someone can(other than the Pies.)

Interesting...if they have stuffed up their tpp to the point of losing a gun like Shiel that's poor from gws...though they may think he's going to leave next year anyway.

They have a host of stars coming ooc next year...moving one on like shiel this year should enable them to re-sign them.

Kelly, coniglio, Shiel, lobb, Haynes, hopper, himmelberg and Tomlinson.
How do they re-sign Shiel if they are losing Shiel?

Expecting Carlton to announce Sam Mitchell as assistant coach within days of the West Coast season coming to an end.

Would then anticipate Carlton moving a pick exchange with West Coast. Something along the lines of the Geelong third to West Coast for the Eagles third (Hawthorn's original) with a swap of West Coast's 5th round pick for our sixth if Hawks pick ends up being a pick or two behind Geelong).

Expect GWS to move him on and get something in return while they can. Pick one off the table unless we get a top ten coming back. Shiel to us is in play mark my words. Priority pick may do it.
