What absolute dribble

That Gibbs is conditional?

He just gave you his latest example of this when he took Murphy's injury as his cue to put HIS cue in the rack.

No-one is saying he is not talented, just that his effort and output has been continuously unreliable.

Pick 13 is not an insult to Gibbs. It is a bloody good pick for a 28yo.

EP said no to Patton, Kelly and Tomlinson.
barass70 no to Steele.
Every name on the list I came up with bar Patfull, Finlayson and Flynn impress me.

Mate, knowing what I know about their diet changes this year, when you see them chucking up on the ground after the game it means they aren't just spent, they're totally ****ing knackered.

Gibbs should have had a week off after the Geelong game, took him weeks to recover as a result. To the club's credit, they appeared to make adjustments, which is why we pushed Sydney et al so well.

Are you suggesting that every trade we do is by definition advantageous? That's patently absurd. Each trade must be assessed on its merits. We've won some (Scotland), we've lost some (too many to mention), we've drawn some (Judd).

AFC have an interest in Gibbs because he is an elite ball user coming off one of his best seasons, highly durable and in the prime of his career. His value to them is immense. That raises his trade value.

His value to us may be less, because his prime will not be concurrent with our prime. That has no impact on this trade value.

You're letting your dislike for him get in the way of understanding his true value.

I have no dislike for Gibbs. Conversely, i have no love for Gibbs.

I just see him as he is.

And yes, when you have competant people in charge, every trade we do is advantageous to us.

We have got to start realising that the clowns who ran our club are gone and competant people are working diligently to restore the list that was left to them.

I thought the same thing when I heard this report this morning. Gotta be a good thing for us.

Looking at the contract status of the GWS boys, salary cap space and the age of their imports, I don't reckon they are anywhere near this so called 'Dynasty' list.

They are prepared to cut their fringe/injured guys while still pumping them up as guns.

We only rated Marchbank late first round 2 years ago, and were surprised he went so early I read.

Buyer beware.

You could admit you're wrong on this: you judge competence on the trades, not the other way around.

And even "competent" people like Stephen Wells do silly trades (Rhys Stanley, Hamish McIntosh...)

Lol. I didn't think my post was critical at all except not rating Stewart. Oh well.

As I said, thought SOS did a great job last year to get you guys back on track. Strategy was sound, rebuild through high picks (Weitering and Curnow were both big ticks, not sure how McKay performed after he came back from injury) and trade lower picks to get more depth (GWS4 & Kerridge all good pickups). Trading pick 5 just feels like going away from that strategy, Marchbank will be good and your defense will be elite for the next decade but I think he could be brought in while keeping pick 5.
You guys only just won the flag, that post wasn't serious

Not that it matters, but I do recall Colin Wisby say he rated marchbank at three in his draft year and thought he had "midfield potential" on top of being a defender and forward. He wanted him on top of collingwoods list of targets this year. (Before he chose Carlton)

Who is Colin Wisby?

Not majorly against the GWS multi deals, however if we trade completely out of the first round that would be a major disappointment.

Unless we know we will get one for other potential trades gibbs etc

Cue in the rack...by what measure? His opening run of games with MM in the side was clearly his worst patch for the year.

Beyond that he was incredibly consistent. Maddeningly consistent.

Holy guacamole I have one day off BF so I can actually do some work and multiple bombs are dropped.

Nervous about trading pick 5. I don't want another Whiley/Jaksch scenario.
Sos was not there at that stage in fact he initiated the deal for GWS.

Shrewd operator.....love it!

No , that is just an opinion.

You don't have to agree on everything. People can be competant and have a differing view on marginal things.

Before, we were clearly incompetent. Now, we are a competent club.
