Take Gibbs out of the team this year and we would have won at most 3 games. If we trade him to genuinely improve our team so be it, but pick 13 is not doing that.

Pick 13 is a very good pick in this draft.

The guys who know, Kevin Sheahan, Mick Ablett, Sanderson, have said recently that there is a Top 7 in the recruiters eyes...and then very even from 8 to 20.

With 13 we could very realistically get someone between 8 and 10 on Silvagni's list.

If we are trading out 5 for players, it makes sense to get back highish in the draft.

Like others would love it had Steele been the 5th player, but considering along the lines of Palmer/Barrett is most likely, I'd rather we had targeted pick 15 rather than an extra 2 fringe players.

Terry in your opinion who would still be there at 13? I want taranto, but he may be long gone?

Just on Lyon vs Gibbs.....think about guys, Adelaide ar proposing the trade! That tells me, not that i need any convincing that they are aware that Gibbs is the better footballer and by far.......

No way should 13 and Lyons be a considered trade for Gibbs.

Lol, no way we reamed ourselves last year ...

... we turned Menzel (0 games) into Kerridge (21 games), Plowman (19 games), Phillips (16 games), Sumner (16 games), and Lamb! (15 games).

The Crows trading in Menzel meant the squeezing out of Wright ... next minute 22 games and our leading goal scorer!!

Add to that the drafting of Weitering, McKay, Curnow, Cuners, and SOSOS.

Our list is in a bad state, yes I agree, but it has nothing to do with what SOS did last year!

We have to get past all the SOS love but seriously - you set a very low bar.

GWS didn't want these players they were under contract and we did GWS a favour by taking them - we accepted the deal without getting the player we wanted Tomlinson.

Yes they played games for us because yes our list was bad, but getting second rate players is bot gotoing to get us anywhere but mid table at best.

Put Lamb and Sumners numbers together and you might have a player, Jury still out on Plowman and Phillip.

Kerridge and Wright ok, but only good ordinary players and Kerridge is a ball butcherer of epic proportions.

If SOS gives up pick 5 for the group of players mentioned then we've learnt nothing from last year.

Marchbank has hardly played any football in two years at AFL level and barely played any in his final TAC year, he's out of contract and wants to come back to Melbourne a second round draft pick is more than enough for him, particularly when all the AFL pundits are sagely nodding in agreement that Collingwood is only going to give GWS a third rounder for Hoskin-Elliott.

Hmm Marchbank, Pickett, Stewart, McKenna, Barrett (or Buntine or Hoskin-Elliott).

The two quality players in that list are injured a lot. Ahern could be a third quality player but same applies.

Need 15 back.
Got to see 2 NEAFL games when away and needing a footy fix, 1 at Manuka (Canberra) & 1 at Metricon. Forgot how much pace WHE has. Speedy Gonzales like. Gets plenty of it, but gee he can burn it. We have enough butchers. So many, even at NEAFL level, have gone past WHE now.
My mail on Pickett is that he's struggling with the demands of being a professional AFL footballer. It's not a talent thing, it's a mental and application thing. When a club posts comments on their website, and I quote, "Some of his training habits weren't we wanted them to be...", and, "...needs to work harder to get his body and fitness up to standard...", it would tend to support that mail. Yes I know he's been injured since April, but he'd certainly have wanted to convince SOS & Bolts that he's mentally up for the challenge that awaits him.

More than likely 5 players will be involved in the deal but Steele won't be one of them
Got 4 right other one is from left field can't give no more
Finlayson is the one I've been told....and if it is him he's not as left-field as you may think. I'd call it a pretty astute choice actually.
Finlayson any good? Not suggesting he is the fifth, just someone left field who I have heard good things about.
Every name on the list I came up with bar Patfull, Finlayson and Flynn impress me.
I got to see Finlayson & Flynn play twice this year and they both impressed the heck out of me.

Matthew Flynn
is another mobile ruck man who when he can't be stuffed rucking anymore goes forward and kicks goals just like Lobb & Patton. Makes me absolutely bloody sick where they find them from. An academy product, GWS had to fend off a bid from Melbourne, so the Giants' recruiting staff weren't the only ones who rated him. 2016 was his first season so his rucking was pretty raw, but 4 months on from when I first saw him he'd improved enormous amount. You'd want to come armed with a pick around the 10 mark to snare his services and forget the steak knives, because I doubt GWS will want to part with him readily.

Jeremy Finlayson is a mobile, rangey, versatile, left-foot KPP with vice-like hands who can play forward or back. Has excellent disposal, especially by foot, and many of his pinpoint accurate kicks result in retained possession whether the intended target is 15 or 50m away. Has a knack of losing his opponent and quite often finds himself in space. Gets on his bike and provides an option by presenting up at the ball-carrier when playing forward, but has very good closing speed and a solid technique when playing in defence. Is a good interceptor, but knows when to mark and when to punch. Has good pace, runs both ways, is an accurate kick for goal and can stick a tackle without requiring a prematch visit to the Selleys factory. Is the type of player who you want to have the ball in hand when coming out of D50 and when going inside F50 to hit a target lace out. Unfortunately he has had to compete against Davis, Haynes, Tomlinson, Marchbank, Corr, Mohr, Himmelberg, Lobb, Patton, Cameron & Stewart for a spot and the impending recruitment of Macreadie won't assist his cause. Is only 20yo and will need 6-12 months exposure in the seniors to find his feet at AFL level, but is essentially ready to go. Was wondering who the hell he was when I first saw him. If you like Marchbank then you'll like Finlayson. In summary, if he passes the medical, yes please!!!
