If he wasn't staring at Cripps alll alone he may have come to us.
He chose the Rabble.
He can rot down at Seaford.

Interesting one here, perhaps SOS will wait to see what St Kilda give up for Steele and leverage off that to not pay overs for Marchbank?

Not pointing the bone at you specifically BF, but this is the type of post that I dont get. I'll go throught it:
How does that type of deal kill us? Two players that fit our so-called reset demographic, one who has played 20 games in the past season, and we gain another first rounder.
Gibbs' calibre? He's in our top 3, what does that equate to elsewhere? Tom Mitchell is not Top 3 at Sydney, but will cost you a high pick in the same circumstances. I think people lose sight of his value to others and where he fits on the quality scale.
Lyons isnt the messiah, but hes a pretty good player, 20 games shows that, and they have a number of players like him, would we pay him big coin?
IMHO, we dont need special just yet, we need depth first. Depth gets us special - build it and they will come. Our demographic is to build depth within the age range we impose. Gibbs doesnt fulfil that, Lyons and Ellis Yolmen do.
FWIW - I'm not a huge fan of Ellis-Yolmen, but I'd do the trade and if there were other options available that fit our demographic, like say Grigg, Doedee, Kelly, Dear or others, I'd be more than happy to investigate including them in a trade also. The depth trades we are doing are better than selecting prospect kids IMO.
BUT, If we did this trade I would also trust in SOS to do something special. Stay with me here, Brisbane who now have a priority pick too, want 2 Top 10's, but 2 firsts and a fringe player might work also. 2/29 for 5/13/42/player. You then on trade 2/29 for 7/15/GWS 5. Freo also want two firsts as they will currently give up 3 for McCarthy and then have nothing for a while. 3/40 for 7/15/55. They get McCarthy for 7 and still have a first at 15. 40 goes to Bullies for Hrovat.
Voila:
Out: Gibbs, 5, 24, 42, 55, fringe player.
In: 3, Lyons, EY, GWS, GWS, GWS, GWS, GWS, Hrovat.
Works on paper anyway!!!
You didn't have much choice but to settle. We have the choice not to.
Just because you guys settled for unders doesn't mean we should.

Steele requested a trade to the Saints.
Does Curnow get tagged like Mitchell does? Does anyone even care that Curnow has the ball? Lyons and Curnow are a good comparison when judging things like DE, equal contested possessions, fly under the radar of the opposition, fringe midfielders. If anyone is guilty of overrating our own, it's us.
Also, DE is the most misleading stat of all time...like the other day when someone was using it to argue Curnow has better disposal than Sheil, Mitchell etc.
If this guy who actually watches Lyon says he's a decent kick, I'll take that over DE....but I still don't want Lyon and 13.
Well we settled for not much more for the current Brownlow medallist and best player in the game. I know Gibbs is in contract but he's a couple years older and not as good a player. Evens it up a bit
There's always a choice in trade negotiations. Could've demanded 2 first rounders for Dangerfield just like Carlton could do for Gibbs.
Adelaide would've had a better chance of getting to first rounders for an out of contract Dangerfield than blues would be for an in contract Gibbs. Look at what you guys gave up for an out of contract Judd....would you give the same for an in contract gibbs?
Dangerfield
AA - future brownlow medallist
wants to go home to Victoria
no contract
couple year younger but inside only
pick 9, 28 and a random player
Gibbs
AA squad, but agree not quite as good
why would you want to go home to Adelaide
3 year contract
couple years older but should be fairly durable - played quite a few years as a sheepdog
still need to pay overs
not unless he's part of the Gibbs tradeWhat about Eddie Betts.
He will learn the difference between taking a handball off Cripps and trying to get the ball off Cripps. He chose the Rabble.

Hello, apologies for the intrusion.
Just wanted to comment on the rumoured Gibbs deal. In all seriousness, I think it would be a win / win for both clubs.
It has been mentioned by a couple of Carlton posters that Gibbs will be 31 by the time you guys are challenging for finals, and this is pretty inescapable.
Lyons will be just hitting his prime at that stage, and is certainly going to be a more valuable addition to your club than either of Kerridge / Wright, who both did really well for you guys in 2016.
The best aspect of Lyons game is his elite hands at stoppages. His ability to fire out quick and ACCURATE handballs is quite simply the best at our club at the present time, and we'all miss that. He makes very smart decisions with ball in hand and is one of the best exponents of a 30m kick to a leading forward at our club too. He's also a guy who can genuinely average a goal a game as he is very smart when floating forward. He's an excellent tackler too and took this to a new level in 2015.
The reason his value is limited to a pick around 20-28 is probably his speed (he isn't "slow", but he's probably about Matty Wright pace), combined with the lack of penetration on his kicks. I wouldn't say he's too good on the left peg either, but this is rarely an issue because he'll handball out of trouble at will.
Personally I think we might end up sweetening the deal a little considering Gibbs is contracted and Lyons is not, so maybe we throw in Ellis-Yolmen on top of Lyons and Pick 13, with Gibbs and 24 coming our way.
I understand that there's probably going to be a majority of Carlton fans who still aren't keen on that trade, but it's about the bigger picture I guess. Which side of the trade will improve your premiership hopes? I hope you don't find it disrespectful for me to say that I don't think Gibbs can win a flag at Carlton, but that's how I see it. If these rumours are proven correct, that's obviously the stance SOS has taken too.
I'm not expecting 2 first rounders. I'm expecting a top 10 pick.
If you can't pay it then we'll keep him.
Treated or not I'm fairly certain that's not a great idea.A tad wanky?
I so sick of my food arriving on anything other than a plate.
I've had a pie in a pot plant pot, steak on a bit of rail way sleeper, tapas on what I think was an old roof tile, drinks in a old jar etc....
Just put the shit on a plate campaigners!!!
Left field, to me, think Ahern. Cant play for a year, but will be very good when rehabbed. Thats left field.
not that rare (hee hee)Treated or not I'm fairly certain that's not a great idea.
you must hate 'em all until they don the CFC jumperLiam Picken is my fave non-Carlton player I think.
