If we were to get 15 for Yarran, we could go to Gold Coast with 15, 20 & 21 for 6 and 16 (Gives gold coast an extra 87 points).

Pick 18 or 19 is not a loss for us. Some people have become blinded by the dick measuring contest between SOS and whoevers running the show at Richmond. Yarran for a pick in the teens is fair for both clubs.

If you felt that a certain player would improve your team and is the missing x factor to your puzzle, then you would hand over the pick for him as per Geelong and Hawthorn do. If you've been p****** in someones pocket all year to get them to the club, you would hand over the pick to improve your team.

And as I haven't read this in the last 5 pages, I think it needs to be added, Richmond can GAGF!

In all honesty I don't think he is the missing piece to their puzzle and they have just realized it after their final exodus- NM would be a better home for him imo.

My guess is

1) there is a player they want at 3 that they think will be there at 6
2) I think they have a very highly-rated academy kid next year that they will need to pay for (they banked an extra 2016 1st round in the swap)
3) Together with the Dixon deal, they 'sold out' of this year draft and into next year's. Could be a '2016 is much stronger' play

How stupid is that proposed Hawthorn - Richmond pick swap?

12 + 19 for 15 + 18.

Since 12/15 will come to us anyway for Yarran, Richmond are basically giving 3 spots in draft order from us to Hawthorn in exchange for moving up 1 spot.

(IE; our pick goes from 12 to 15, their remaining pick from 19 to 18)

Pricks.

They'd do that deal with the intention of keeping 15 and passing 18 to us (officially a 1st round pick)

Hawthorn and GWS have done an exchange of picks that indicate they may take Harry Himmelberg as an academy player. Good signs for the potential Tomlinson trade for mine given they're similar types of players.

Taking off the "we hate them, they hate us" hat for a moment, I don't honestly get what Richmond is trying to do. They have a good list. Their window is here. It's go-time, and I think a guy like Yarran would be TREMENDOUS for them. They have plenty of talent on their list still to come through... it seems a no-brainer to me for them to buy Yarran. He immediately makes them more dangerous, he wants to be there, and at just 24yo he's not just a short-term option. They need to get better by acquisition, not just organic growth/development - North categorically demonstrated that to them a few weeks ago.

If we're not taking 19, why would we take 18 when 15's on the table.

If we do get 12, I'd be against using that for Tomlinson.

I'd be interested to see if we could package 8 and 12 to move up this year and get a future first. But unlikely if we don't think that future pick will be a strong one.

Plus they're probably more likely to draft a Richard Tambling than a proven Chris Yarran with their precious pick. Strange mentality down at Punt Rd. gbatman said it well: they've become a decent middle of the road team but don't know what to do next.

It's pretty strange. They're a young side making finals (although losing) regularly. Their window is about to open up for about 3-4 years. They are in a very good spot, yet no free agent is nominating them. Why Aish and Treloar chose Collingwood over them baffles me - they've gone backwards every year.

Why didn't they chase Hendo? They're desperate for someone to replace to that spud Chaplin. I'm assuming they didn't chase Carlisle because they knew about his habit - but still, they have Dustin Martin on their list, they could handle a Carlisle easily. Harley Bennell showed them no respect and didn't want to go there from the start. Charlie Dixon as another KPF to squeeze out Vickery? Shit even Menzel would be handy for them. I don't get it, especially considering their war chest.
