Plus they're probably more likely to draft a Richard Tambling than a proven Chris Yarran with their precious pick. Strange mentality down at Punt Rd. gbatman said it well: they've become a decent middle of the road team but don't know what to do next.

Step 1: steal underpants
Step 2:???????????????
Step 3: PROFIT!!!!

With Richmond it's more like:

Step 1: Get in Yarran's ear all year and stroke his ego, convince him to want to come to Tuggerland
Step 2: ??????????????
Step 3: PROFIT!!

coz they won't take 20 & 21.

In fact you could throw 19 in there too and it seems it won't get it done.
So we need pick 12 and Richmond won't budge.

Richmond -> Yarran + pick 20
GWS -> picks 12, 21
Carlton -> Menadue, Richmond 2016 3rd rounder, Tomlinson, Adelaide 2016 2nd rounder (from GWS)

Leaving us with

1, 8, 59, 60 (last 2 for SOSOS bidding)

plus Tomlinson, Menadue, Phillips, Kerridge, Lamb, Sumner, Plowman

is this a chance?

Agree 100% Can't see them taking the next step - see North in the same position except they actually won in September this year.

I stand by my previous position that we will win #17 before Tigers, * and (to a less confident degree) Pies win their next.

Interesting thoughts... GWS and the Dawks just swapped picks... Including the pick I've identified as the pick we need as cover for SOSOS.

Could Hawthorn be coming in with a late offer of 15 and 48 for Yarran?

That's a trade I would take in a heartbeat. The big thing is selling it to Chris!

Richmond want Yarran and have pick 12
We want Tomlinson and have pick 20
GWS want a first rounder (12-16) for Tomlinson which is what we need to get

Given how creatively trades have been constructed this year it shouldn't be too difficult to engineer a swap of picks (say two for one) with another club who has a pick in that range (12-16) to get an outcome that pleases all parties.

C'mon SOS - one final rabbit out of the hat

Hawks have 15 and 18 still, missed on Carlisle and could be a chance to hand over one of those picks for Yarran...

Pick 18 or 19 is not a loss for us. Some people have become blinded by the dick measuring contest between SOS and whoevers running the show at Richmond. Yarran for a pick in the teens is fair for both clubs.

We'll see who blinks. ;)
is this a chance?
I dunno, just speculating.

If Tiges won't budge on 12, we may have to throw a pick back to them in exchange for a kid and a later pick.

SOS has shown, with Adelaide, he's willing to receive slight unders to broker a larger deal.

This is what I don't get. Richmond wanted Townsend and Yarran. We want Tomlinson. GWS wants a high teens pick.

If Richmond had any bloody brains, they'd have set up:

GWS: Pick 12
Richmond: Yarran + Townsend
Carlton: Tomlinson

right at the start of the week and then focused on trading their later picks for higher picks with the clubs chasing points. Instead, they've buried their heads in the sand while Melbourne, Essendon, Carlton and Adelaide have all secured additional first rounders.

Methinks it's going to take them a while to adjust to the new draft system.

Hey it took us around a quarter of a century to adapt, who said they'd get there any quicker?

Dear Leon Cameron: You are not trading McCarthy to Freo...you have 5 existing FF's, Tommo will set you back with only frustration and go for nothing in the coming year(s). Trade him to us and will provide decent draft picks.

Thought similar myself, they haven't done it to just move up a few spots in the third round.

Maybe 15, 18 & 48 to the Tuggers for 12 & 19? We then take 15 & 48 off them for Yazz?
