I think it is impossible to promise to never bottom out. Just as it is impossible to promise to win a premiership.

I agree...if you read between the lines I don't think he's promising that, as you are right you can't promise it, particularly when injuries can cruel you year to year as well as retirements.

But he is promising the Cats will never deliberately bottom out (as other clubs have done) as a device to try and improve down the track. I agree with this

interesting call for thompson to make considering he plans to move on after 2011!

i'd imagine a new coach will come in and try to turn the list over to build his own team. i've got no problems with that as long as we don't feel we have to drop down the ladder just for the sake of climbing back up

What kind of call is it for Thompson to make? He'll be gone in two years and surely we won't be hitting bottom anytime in the next two years.

There's no guarantee that the next coach will feel the same as Bomber.

Well we didn't have to tank in order to get ourselves into the position we are in now so i doubt we would ever even consider it in the future.
