Meh. Some people just like to cheer on their team, others also like to boo their opponents. Nothing wrong with either action, but as with all actions, it reflects on those performing it.

They were saying on Triple M this morning that at Simmonds stadium they award the loudest 'booer' a Zinger voucher. When away teams go to Geelong to play they also get booed....so just because we have a larger, louder fan base who are happy to give you back what you give when we're down at your stadium, suck it up.

Geelong supporters rewarded for booing
Well this is a novel way to make home ground advantage even more intimidating. Geelong's Simonds Stadium has always been a fortress for opposing teams and now the Cats have come up with a plan to make the venue even more menacing.
In partnership with fast food outlet KFC, if any opposition player kicks the ball out on the full from a set shot inside 50m, every Geelong member and ticket-holder will receive a free Zinger burger.

"Boo for a free burger"

Geelong's supporter booing influencing games at Simmons Stadium?

In front of a crowd of 32,266, the Cats would enjoy a 28-17 free-kick advantage, with Hardwick claiming a combination of the ground's skinny dimensions and local crowds were as big an advantage as the Crows and Power had at the Adelaide Oval.

The Cats have asked the AFL to fixture nine home games at their redeveloped home ground next season, with two in Melbourne.

We were the home supporters, so it is fair that we would have that advantage.

Classless act from a classless supporter base devoid of any success whatsoever for decades.

Respect that you are the away supporters.
I think Ticketek is to blame allowing Richmond fans to type Cats into the system and take the home seats. Those people obviously got carried away by the seats they were in.

They were wrong.

Booing is great. I loved the amount of heat that Geelong were getting from the Tigers fans.

I personally don't partake as I find the act of "booing" kind of weird. It's a weird noise to make when you break it down. People angrily booing is hilarious.

Or your clubs fault for encouraging their fans to take up our allocation of tickets.

We'd have have turned up if it were in Geelong.

It makes it difficult to get to a game when the majority of your supporter base is located in a different city.
Biggest and most important game of the year for your club (so far) and your supporters don't turn up because it's an hour down the road.

What an embarrassing supporter base.

Well done to those that did go, but a big majority should be ashamed to call themselves Geelong supporters/members.

Its fine, but it makes your supporters look classless. And considering the reports of abuse and aggression in the crowd, it stacks up to make your supporters look like poor sports and will lead to people giving your fans a lot of shit if you lose in the Prelim or GF. So you basically have to hope you win or you will cop it.

LOL

The Cats actively encourage booing the opposition at Simmonds Stadium. In fact they reward booing with zinger burgers in the last qtr if an opposition player misses a set shot OOF.

How does that make Geelong look?

We were the home supporters, so it is fair that we would have that advantage.
And we were the away supporters but still outnumbered you 3:1. Proud of my club members/supporters for turning up.

Best

Have never seen a team get booed like we did when we came on to the ground on Friday night, and the booing during the game was constant in an unusual way.
It's just how things are going. Would prefer it be a bit more civilised but no doubt I will pretty quickly come to see it as just part of the fun.

Maybe because it was at your home ground in your city?

Simply delusional, another classic example of the deluded Richmond fanbase.

You're delusional mate....where is it written that only the home crowd can boo the opposition?
It's more the fault of the AFL for allowing the game to be played at your home ground.

I think KB bought all the seats then resold via the reseller to tiger fans. Then ranted about the ticket issue to cover up.

Hillbilly trash.

It's more the fault of the AFL for allowing the game to be played at your home ground.

meh i don't blame them one bit. They made millions more by having it at the MCG and allowing another 60k people be part of the fun. You've only ever hosted 1 home state finals game at Simmonds stadium and the rest at the MCG and it was never an issue before.

It's an hour up the road. Can you not drive? Were you never taught how to catch a train?

I'm starting to think more Richmond supporters travelled from country Victoria, interstate and overseas to see the final than Geelong supporters did from Geelong.

I bet you guys just assumed you'd roll us so you were saving your money for the prelim or GF.

What a pathetic, entitled, stuck up and bitter group of people the vast majority of your supporters are (again, not those that did go).

All fan bases have dickheads.

We are not different to any other fan base.

Geelong fans spat and abused some Richmond fans last time we played them at KP ffs, why isn't that mentioned here?
A Geelong supporter shoved a kid the other night. Far more noteworthy than ****ing sooks having a whinge about booing.
