Brisbane Lions chief executve Michael Bowers has stood down and will leave the club

Well without exposing specifically what is discussed on the Private Board... it's fair to say Quigley is a gun.

While I have entirely struggled to work out what KPIs he has been meeting recently and am certainly not disappointed to see him go, he certainly isn't the Darth Vader character that we often portray him as here. In my conversations with him, he has been quite decent and personable. Others have different experiences.

I got the impression that he actually did care about the club (he turned down a lucrative offer from the Brisbane Roar a year or so ago), but I simply didn't buy into his particular vision. I don't think he ever fully grasped the importance of the emotional side of a football club (extra important in a merged club), and had far too much of an economic rationalist approach.

With that out the way, it all means nothing if we don't find a superior replacement. I am extremely excited as to who the replacement could be. The club has barely put a foot wrong in the past couple of weeks, but they can't afford to stuff this appointment up. Get Micky Conlan and Andrew Ireland on the phone!

I take it that the line item marked "merchandise revenue" on the 2010 P&L is not going to set the world on fire then...

In fact, it will be interesting to compare that item with the line items marked "legal fees" and "boffins who designed logo and jumper".

Based on the recent review outcome appointments from the Crows/SA his replacement would have to be Stephen Trigg surely

I think I recall that Wright resigned from the Richmond role due to health reasons. He went in with a pretty strong reputation.

Richmond Football Club CEO Steven Wright, who has been running a sports consultancy company in Queensland, would act as interim CEO until a permanent replacement was appointed.

Among his key responsibilities as interim CEO, Wright will oversee the implementation of the club review, recruit additional admin resources, develop strategies to increase the Lions' revenue base and be active in finding a new CEO.

He will officially commence his duties with the Lions from early next week but due to his own business commitments will not be a candidate for the permanent role.

While the CEO is often a convenient scapegoat, nevertheless it is still the board that make the final decisions on a whole host of matters. I'm still very interested in attending the AGM via a video-link (if and when it is arranged) and asking the board what they plan to do in regards to a number of issues, especially those concerning the Victorian membership.
