Just need Johnson back and we'll have our old failed fast bowling group all back together.

Would've played Harris. Not as if there's FC cricket to get him fit. Let him have a hitout now so he's going some match fitness behind him for the last 3 Tests.

Now we still have Ponting and Hussey as well as 2/3's of our failed fast bowling line up.

Booing Haddin is useless. It is clear that he won't be considered to be dropped until Paine comes back (that is if he comes back). When you have one of your best mates as a selector & generally they are conservative with wicketkeeper changes, you will be booing for a while.

The German fellow from Tasmania is a bigger pie chucker than Siddle.

am surprised that Starc still in the squad, if he wasnt a left armer he would have been dropped. Surely Hilfy will get in ahead of Starc, has been swinging the ball and thats the 1 thing the Indians cannot handle.

Apparently he talked to the selectors this morning and said he wasn't fit enough to play long form cricket yet.

Really happy to see Cowan in there, I'm starting to develop some faith in this Iverarity-headed NSP. I hope Marsh is right to play and bats at 3 - Warner, Cowan, Marsh is a top 3 that can set us up for the next 5+ years. It will be great to have 3 of the most in form batsman as our top 3 - when was the last time we had a top 3 that didn't include at least one member who you could virtually rely on to fail?

Mickey Arthur saying the other day that no one's spot is guaranteed and that batsman need to make runs to keep their spots sounds to me like Ponting and Hussey will be dropped for the 3rd test if they fail to make runs in the meantime, and there is someone available to replace them. You'd think Khawaja's Summer is over as far as national duties are concerned - who thought it would be a good idea to have no Shield Cricket on during this series? Watson is now probably the only batsman outside that squad with any real chance of playing in this Test series.

Edit: Heh, Usman and Hughes are opening the batting for the CAC XI - I wonder if they know they've both just been dropped. I hope Uzi makes a big score and gives them something to think about if Ponting and Hussey fail again.

Calling Ed Cowan 'another NSW spud' is just stupid. The anti-NSW bias of some people on here is just crazy, bordering on conspiracy-loon material. I'll just ignore people who spout this nonsense from now on, but I just wanted to put it out there that suggesting Cowan got a spot solely on the basis of being from NSW is stupidity only surpassed on this board by the nonsense that Dan26 posted in his thread that shall not be named.

You must know **** all about cricket mate, Hilfy has been taking wickets for Tassie in all forms of the game, swinging the ball late. The Indians CANNOT play the swinging ball, have a look at the record against England a few months ago they lost 4-0. We need swing bowlers

It'll be...

1. Warner
2. Cowan
3. Marsh
4. Ponting
5. Clarke
6. Hussey
7. Haddin
8. Pattinson
9. Siddle
10. Hilfenhaus
11. Lyon

12. Christian
13. Starc

But knowing CA, they may spring a surprise selection if Phil Hughes tons up in the tour match.

I wouldn't go there if I were you.

Edit: Oh wait you actually went there again before I even had a chance to post. Not a smart move.

Typical NSW centric modding:p.

Safe to say I'm nothing short of disgusted. Khawaja, whilst getting out for low scores, has been taking at least 8 overs off the new ball and protecting the middle order somewhat. Plus he is young and needs time to cut his teeth and feel comfortable at test level.

Cowan selection good, his knucles are bleeding he's been bashing down the door so hard.

I actually like the Hilfenhaus selection in theory, he has been in pretty good form in the shield this year and I like the idea of rewarding form. I don't think he (or any of the bowlers this series) will go amazingly but it's not too bad considering our injuries.

Don't even get me started on that disgrace Bad Haddin.

I don't really like any of the other test teams enough to support them so I'm going to have to treat it like the Fitzroy situation.

My team has been destroyed so there is no one to support in test cricket any more:thumbsd:

I guess I can just support individual players I like.

It's the way he's been bowling though. Actually swinging the ball later and in general bowling better.

Dunno. looking at his figures he stated well this season but his last 3 FC games would not have been something I'd be selecting him from.

2/72 1/50
1/86 1/22
4/60 0/76

Overall he is averaging 30 with the ball this year for Tassie with the first 2 matches the one's keeping the at that.

Until this team stops picking spuds from New South Wales and picking guys who are well and truly past it it will continue to remain difficult to cheer for this team.

At least they've woken up to Uselessman Khawaja and Phil "He's no Bradman" Hughes.

Khawaja will be ok. He's unlucky in my opinion. Was run out in the 30s. Never gave his wicket away. Stupid that he is dropped. However CA using their influence and pressure from all sides on the selectors means no major changes yet again.
