yes lycetts and Ellis contracts were remotely similar

from memory after Richmond complained the afl said Ellis contract only narrowly put him in band 3.

I’ve used this in recent times to point out that lycetts contract must have only just narrowly gotten into band 2.

band 1 - after Teams 1st
Band 2 - end of 1st
Band 3 - after teams second
Band 4 - end of 2nd
Band 5 - after teams 3rd
- no compo award if it doesn’t qualify for band 5

Adding Crouch does not give us anymore A graders though unfortunately.

We've got a few young guys that will fill that void nicely. Crouch is just to help in the meantime.

This is what confuses me: it is way, way off being enough for Band 1. Yet, Crouch (good bloke & all, loves the Crows, wants to stay, just exploring the market to see if he can generously jump on a grenade and sacrifice himself to land pick #2 for his beloved Crows) and his manager still agreed to the Saints offer?

Why the f**k would the do that, when they would have known that $600 x 4 was not going to get anywhere near pick #2?
