When B.S took over the coaching role at Nth they were almost moving to Tasmania.. He got then to two prelims with pretty average lists. To say he has achieved absolutely nothing is a stretch. I'm not saying I want Brad Scott, however, I am starting to feel it is time for a new coach.

2 years running we have been tipped to be up near the top and so far we have failed to deliver. Pyke may be a good coach, but we aren't playing good footy..... and something has to give.
Wouldn't you rather have good line coaches around pyke and an improved list? Ie A grade ruck. Outside speed and a contested marking option up front with some pace?

C'mon EC, you're better than that.
The thread invites speculation and discussion, with reasonable questions.
There is speculation & Stupidulation!

Not 'suggesting' ... BunjiMC was asking.

I do not want Pyke replaced with BScott, no way, but the scorn heaped on the thread makes no sense.
There's asking for a new coach. Then there's asking for Brad Scott to take over Pyke.
Why in hell would we want the coach that's doing worse than our current coach??

4 wins and 2 close losses (where the losing games could have easily gone our way within the last few minutes) - not time to hit the panic button just yet.

The next 4 games - Dees, GWS, TIgers and Cats - will be epic to seeing how the players and coaches respond after recent losses.

although I do know I want a flag.
OK, thanks for that. We all want Flag(s) for the Crows.
Scott's Coaching record is tepid (50-50), although he has got mongrel. Does player mongrel come from the Coach?
Think: Beverige/Hardwick/Clarko, and you'd say yes. Chris Scott, too. Our defence has become mongrel and stingy and that's from Pyke and Mattner.
Even so, I don't think BScott would be a good Head Coach for us; just a gut feeling.

I think we should throw a pile of money and a promise of autonomous decision-making @ Clarko, but our Board makes Old Boys' Club appointments. They don't dare, to succeed.

(short answer, most don't)
Please read his opening post again; nowhere does he say/ask that he wants BScott to Coach us.
He asked, was all, here:
I'd just like to start by saying I'm a fan of Don Pyke, but has his time come? The players just don't seem to be playing for him.
How would people feel about Brad Scott as head coach in 2020?

Re: last sentence, about 1/8th of respondents want Scott!
OK, both of you don't, and I don't, but why shoot/rubbish the messenger?

He's had lists incapable of doing anything great. At the same time he is the no.1 excuse maker in the AFL which isnt great.

I'm still indifferent on Pyke, I cant get a read on how close he is with the players. Seemed like Scott was really close with his. I will put my faith back into him when he drops the decoy captain.

Hell, if we want Scott lets go the full monty and throw everything at Hinkley to lure him across. Hes even betterer than Scott.
Scott, about 50% success rate, Hinkley 55%, Pyke 63%.
He will be sacked this year cos we wont make the 8 and we wont win more than 9 games.
He's contracted until end 2021. If we don't make the 8 this year and start badly next year, he's probably gone, as costly as that might be.
However, we're 7th currently, 3rd-meanest defence, 7th-best%. I like the ways Pyke has tweaked our defence to deal with the 6-6-6 and our mids running back. Contested ball is always crucial, but centre clearances are a problem. When we won them vs WCE we got 33 points up. When they won them after that, we got done.
If Pyke can turn that around, get the mids mix right ... hmmm ... by hell, that's a BIG "if", lol@me!! :D

Those losses to Essendon/NM (horrible)/Brisbane have really hurt our season, but was that Coaching or player non-execution?

Because by the mere mention of Brad Scott, it just makes the thread feel an instant derailment.
If the thread was open to asking for a new coach, then best leave it at that or at least throw in a few good suggestions. Why mention a current bottom 4 coach? :)
The best ones right now are Clarko, Hardwick, Bucks and Pyke. Can't really see the other 3 coaches leaving their respective clubs any time soon, and Pyke is what we need to make do for now. Still time for him to tinker with structures and personnel. Still room for improvement and time for him to chop and change to get the mix right.

Yes, I hope so :thumbsu::).
I love the ways our defence tightened up in that streak of 4 wins, even vs Brisbane too (goalkicking cost us that game).
Atkins/Hartigan/Kelly/Talia give away (and I do mean GIFT) around 4 goals/game, and we miss at least 2 very kickable goals/game as well, from set shots.
If Pyke figured out ways to only HALVE those errors, we'd have been 8-2. I know, coulda-shoulda-woulda, but going forward it's worth striving for improvements there.

Essendon?

Relax. This is all smoke and mirrors.

We're getting Bolton.
Hes virtually a Junior Clarkson!

Hey Guys, I didn't know where to put this.

Recently wrote a piece on the crows. Understandably, some of you might completely disagree (or agree)

Feedback would be welcome.

Good luck against the Dees.

Yeah nah. Pyke's not our problem and most members see that. Our list is mentally cooked. Pyke is actually one of our best assets at the club. Without him we'd probably be bottom 6.

The issues last year were mainly burn out and a new and profoundly unqualified GM of football leading to the work experience kid taking over fitness and a plague of resulting hamstrings.

This year we're mainly struggling with some lazy senior players not doing what is asked but on the whole we're much better.

And what is this shit re Gibbs: "Defensive issues have been sighted as a reason for dropping him, but on the surface it doesn’t make sense. After 27 and 26 disposal games, dropping him does seem very harsh."?

You clearly didn't watch the lions game before he was dropped. There was one stoppage on the outer wing he just sat off while Neale strode away with the clearance through the gap where Gibbs was supposed to be and then went into the corridor eventually resulting in a goal while Gibbs just jogged obliquely into D50 and watched. Literally everyone except CEY was working at a different level of speed and urgency. And that's just one of many examples. Deserved to be dropped.
