Yeah there were about 2 eagles supporters saying pick 37 or no deal. They were in the minority and I had to stop reading for a few days. Cal twomey has said priority pick all along. No need to hold the oscar allen deal for random to haggle over a pick Brisbane won't use.

Both teams will be doing each other a favour. The PP pick which will become 23 anyway after the Allen compo pick comes through will get it done. Brisbane won't be shy on points after the Ah Chee deal gets done either, and the points saved by ensuring WC don't bid on Annable at 1 or 2 is more than the difference between 17 and 23.
It's just posturing.

Genuinely curious, what would be the Eagles position if the Allen compensation came back as Band 2 ?
I’m not implying we are posturing to knock the offer down, but think this is the genuine hold up as we’re trying to work out the details against the Draper offer.
He’s not going to suddenly agree to go anywhere else and we’re committed to make a trade happen, minimal chance he signs on also.
What would you realistically accept in a trade ?
I agree, our ability to get you band 1 has a direct impact on what we can expect to receive for Starcevich.

Depends if Bris do the right thing and lodge Allen separate to a Starcevich trade like they should. Given they won’t lower their offer as that jeopardises a move for Allen, and increases our likelihood of matching and trading, they should really be lodging it now and handling Starcevich separately. As Matt Clarke said, eagles view the two as separate transactions, which really they are.
In a world where we only receive band 2 for Allen, we either lodge Starc as an FA if it’s before the deadline as it should be, or if it’s not and this occurs next week, we likely lower our offer for Starcevich to Hawks R2, given we’d require more picks to trade up as our intention has always been 3 top 10 picks. In that world we probably gun for both Carlton and GC early picks using our future capital received for Ryan with Carlton.
